Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle has been moved to a "safe house" as she prepares for Saturday's final.

One judge, Piers Morgan, confirmed that she had become so "distraught" at negative media headlines this week that she almost quit the ITV show.

He said the singer from West Lothian was now relaxing with one of her closest friends from Scotland.

A former psychologist for Big Brother said she should be withdrawn from the contest to protect her mental health.

Speaking on BBC Radio Radio 5 Live's Victoria Derbyshire show, Mr Morgan said he did not believe she would quit the show.

YT demonstrates both the power and the perils of the internet. I really like Susan Boyle and find her very charming and her voice lovely if unpolished. On last week's show she appeared to have this sudden torrent of fame well in hand, indicating that she was taking things in stride and had not been hurt by the way the judges had treated her the first go around. It would be hard for anyone to deal with this kind of pressure. Look at Diana, who didn't have to endure the kind of cruel comments about her appearance that Susan Boyle has had thrown her way. Diana had "peeps and a posse," and she still crumbled at times.

Here's hoping Susan will pull herself together, deliver the performance of her life on Saturday and be satisfied that she did her absolute best, even if she doesn't win. (But I think she will.) :-)

awkward in social situations because she is unused to them or the media or any of it - she is a shy older woman who has led a very sheltered life and this is all too much - the make over - itself - can be hard - she is unused to or possibly uncomfortable with makeup and a pretty dress - remember clay aiken also had to take time to get used to all of it.

8. Being famous is weird, as I said in another thread...

A fellow who traveled with Eleanor Roosevelt in her later years - he was her agent - said that you just couldn't leave her alone because she would be mobbed - after nearly 30 years as the best-known woman in the US, and world - folks would come up to her and ask for autographs, etc. Folks would follow her into the bathroom. Everything. Everywhere.

Imagine Susan Boyle SUDDENLY dealing with all of this. It's got to be tough. She needs to have peeps around her.

15. Superstardom is hellish from what I've seen. Michael Jackson used to be a

regular visitor to the studio where I worked, which was along side a theme park. One day I had been out in the park after lunch for my daily walk and as I was coming in through the backstage area I bumped into Michael and all three Caulkin brothers (this was not long after Home Alone 2 came out). Michael was dressed in his red jacket black pants and hat (and it was VERY hot outside) and he seemed determined to take the kids out into the park on his own. I said "I really think that's a bad idea. It's very crowded out there..." but he blew me off-though one of the younger Caulkins said that he agreed with me. I didn't wait around to watch what happened, but a coworker came in later and told me that he was out in the park when word stated spreading that the celebs were there, and thousands of people swarmed into the area where they were standing and mobbed them. Security was called in...it was a mess and pretty scary for the younger kids. What a horrible way to live! I don't envy anyone for that kind of fame. :-(

11. Reality Shows: good for some people, devastating for others--

To go from being a shy, learning challenged, church volunteer in a small village who cared for years for her elderly mother to the sudden "fame" and scrutiny of the media is traumatic.

I think she had no idea what she was getting herself into. In one interview she said she was doing this because her mom had told her to go on "Britain's Got Talent" because she believed Susan had an extraordinary voice.

Maybe it would be good for her to skip the final show, sign a recording contract where she can sing under controlled circumstances.

Whatever happens, I wish her the best of luck.

Susan Boyle is the epitome of all that is good and right in the world. We should all revere her. We should eagerly learn the small pearls of wisdom that drop like tiny jewels from her life. We should name all of our children "Susan"...even the boys. We should clone her.
