You slept on prickly things called brush rollers, if you could sleep at all, got up at 5AM and tiptoed into the bathroom, took the rollers out, back combed the whole mess like a Phyllis Diller fright wig, and then lightly combed the top hairs into place. Then you used half a can of hair spray getting the whole edifice rock solid.

No wonder we all turned to drugs a couple of years later.
