SeattlwpiU2, the legendary rock band with members that like to go by one name only (Bono, por ejemplo) is playing their penultimate show of the year tonight at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., and everyone is invited.
U2 has collaborated with YouTube to live stream tonight's 360 Tour gig in 15 different countries, including France, Canada, Italy, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Mexico, Israel, South Korea, the Netherlands, the U.K. and the U.S. The Los Angeles Times says this is the first time YouTube is streaming a full length concert live.
The announcement was posted last week on U2's official Web site.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness said, 'The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we're filming the LA show, it's the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 - this time U2 can go to them, globally.'
CNet reported that this is not U2's first live stream. The band let their fans watch a gig for their Popmart tour back in 1997 via Microsoft MSN.
So, you're not one of the 96,000 people actually at the concert. At least you get to watch it for free.
Join in at U2's YouTube channel -- youtube.com/U2 The concert begins at 8:30 PM.
