It was good, really good. I don't fancy myself to be a silly star-struck girl, but I make that exception in the case of Michael Jackson. It made my heart beat a little faster and I kinda giggled a little...ok, I really giggled but I had to contain myself because my kids were with me. (My son is 15 and my daughter is 4.)
So once I got the stars out of my eyes, I was struck by the perfectionist and artist that is Michael Jackson. Wow, and I thought I had an anal retentive eye for detail. Not. Even. Close. His sheer talent is stunning and it really comes through in the movie. At one point my daughter looked at the screen and said, "Woooooooooooow!!" And I might add she did that without any prompting from me. My son caught me in the kitchen afterward and he said, "Mom..." I knew what he was gonna say and I finished his thought, "You didn't know Michael Jackson could do that, did you?" "NO!" he replied. "I knew he could sing, but..." So we're going to go see it again this weekend when the other half of the peanut gallery can stay at home.
It's ironic that my son would learn that I'm not completely lost when it comes to music from Michael Jackson because it was in May of 1983 when I learned my parents might not be so lame in that area. We watched Motown's 25th Anniversary Special together and that's the day the world saw it's first Moonwalk. It's also the day that I fell in love with Michael Jackson. R.I.P. Michael.
