Aerosmith turmoil amid Tyler 'quit' reports
Source: AFP

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – The future of US supergroup Aerosmith was shrouded in uncertainty Monday after unconfirmed reports that flamboyant frontman Steven Tyler had quit the band.

Tyler, 61, indicated he was parting company with the band after more than three decades in a recent interview with British music magazine Classic Rock.

"I don't know what I'm doing yet," Tyler said. "But it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself -- Brand Tyler."

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry fueled the quit rumors after telling the Las Vegas Sun newspaper in an interview that the frontman had left the band after a recent concert in Abu Dhabi. "Steven quit as far as I can tell," Perry told paper. "I don't know anymore than you do about it."

I understand that they have done group therapy for decades to keep from breaking up. Their manager suggested it (anything to keep that 10%).

2. "US supergroup"...because someone somewhere said they were cool.
Fricking hairband from the 70s that never went away.

Everything post mid 80s bites wind but MTV pimped it like it was the shizz...

3. My last concert was Egosmith
I was running a follow spot in an old theater from one of the box seat areas. They'd sold seats right next to the spot and I had little room to work. One of the happy concertgoers puked all over me and that was it.

I never did lighting again.

I do not remember them fondly for this and several other reasons.

6. I can find a lot of saving graces in most "superbands"
The Stones still can kick hard and have a few great newer songs...but so many classics.

U2 will occasionally make a great new song. They still have it at times.

KISS has a lot of great kitch...love it or leave it.

I don't think 'having a hot daughter' counts as a good saving grace.

18. In the 70s sure.
Then they put out a bunch of cheesedick albums with sassy little catchphrases.

did it actually happen?

11. Well..
I've been an Aerosmith fan since '73. It had to happen someday. I just pray Steven doesn't try one of those Rod Stewart standards/oldies CD's that you see advertised at 3 am.

22. I think their group therapy was to keep them alive
All of them.

I'm surprised they made it this far (and "made it" means "alive").

(Yeah, the manager wanted his cut too...wouldn't work otherwise.)

This doesn't sound good for Steven (see photo above!).
