Live Action Movie Review: District 9
Country of origin: New Zealand/USA

Year: 2009

Genre: Sci-Fi

Story: Alien refugees travel to South Africa and are placed into a crappy camp. Twenty years latter, the aliens are to told they must move to an even crappier camp. One of the humans in charge of the evictions is exposed to a chemical which alters him genetically. Now he has no where to turn because some want to dissect him, some want to eat him, and the aliens he has been in charge of abusing do not trust him.

Acting: Pretty good.

Humor: One or two humorous scenes

Violence: Nothing too horrific as far as movies go. Some gun battles and exploding bodies.

Sex: No nudity and no sex.

Overall: Awesome movie. Great social commentary. Sociology fans will have a fun time with this movie. Some of the movie was inspired by the apartheid.

The beginning of the movie is mostly fake news footage and "Cannibal Holocaust" style camera work, but the movie becomes more traditional once the plot is developed. District 9 is produced by Peter Jackson. I highly suggest this movie to all sci-fi fans.

1. Saw it a couple of nights ago. Loved it!
Slow and documentary style until he is sprayed with the fluid, then it takes off.

2. Just saw this film
It is haunting. Truly not anything expected or ordinary about this film. Does not end where one supposes it will either. Loved it. Would definitely watch it again. I hope it gets nominated and isn't forgotten.

4. The country of origin is South Africa
The film was written, directed and acted by South Africans, in South Africa. It is organically South African. Lovely, lovely money came from other places, but I have to say, part of what made this film so special was the cultural context of the artists.
I loved the film to pieces. Great everything, lead actor my favorite of the year.
Credit to South Africa.

5. Saw it last August. I get the message. I didn't like the movie.
I am a sci-fi fan and I was more than ready to be prepared to love this movie considering it was associated with Peter Jackson. I was very disappointed.

9. I loved this movie

I think they did and excellent job expanding Neill Blomkamp's short film "Alive in Joberg"

10. i loved it!
The gore was a little much for me though. I wasn't offended by it in the least, but I tend to get queasy when I see too much blood and guts on TV.
