AMC purchased 6 episode arc of Walking Dead TV series to run in October.
AMC has given a series greenlight to "The Walking Dead," the Frank Darabont-helmed adaptation of the Image Comics series by Robert Kirkman.

AMC has ordered a total of six episodes of the series that revolves around a group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Darabont penned and directed the pilot and will exec produce with Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion, which will be funded entirely inhouse by AMC parent Rainbow Media. Charles Eglee, a seasoned TV drama showrunner, has also boarded the project as an exec producer.

"Dead" is targeted to preem in October, dovetailing with Halloween and AMC's annual "Fearfest" two-week marathon of horror and thriller pics.

Jon Bernthal ("The Pacific") has been cast in a lead role. The series revolves around police officer Rick Grimes, who leads a group of human survivors on a search for a safe home in a world overrun by zombies. AMC greenlighted production of a "Walking Dead" pilot back in January but ultimately decided to go straight to series after hearing Darabont's vision for a six-episode arc, and because of the desire to tie in with "Fearfest."

5. How does it compare with "Zombieland" and "Shaun of the Dead"? Less humor?
I do prefer a bit of humor with the zombies.

7. no humor. very bleak and realiistic to what kinds of
psychological impact would take place in the event of an actual zombie apocalypse. superb writing.

comparing The Walking Dead to Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland (which i love and adore both) is really comparing apples to oranges.

i highly recommend if you're a zombie fan.
but be prepared to be very sad while reading them, or watching the series.

the director from Shawshank Redemption is the director for this series.

18. a friend got me hooked on reading these a while ago. he explained it best:
he tried explaining it to me before i started reading it and he said, "just when you think to yourself there's no way there going to go there, or have happen what you think would be unimaginable, they do."

best way i have seen it described.

Dead Walking isn't played for laughs (at least in the comic). If you go into this expecting a Shaun or Zombieland expect to be seriously disappointed. If you love the genre beyond those (great) films this should be worth checking out. I wouldn't expect a great deal of humor (though the comic had it's dark moments for me). If done right, this has enormous potential for coolness. :)

17. SPOILER ALERT: i have to be honest about this:
i'm not sad at Lori's "departure", although the baby was certainly an uneccessary and tragic loss.

Lori was just not adapting well, and like all the others in the stories, those who don't adapt inevitably die.

besides, i was still pissed at her for her little liaison with Rick, who was also a giant dickwad.

Yeah...I understood Lori...but the Baby. That was just horrific. Mebbe because my daughter was about the same age when it happened.

6. Does anybody know why they changed illustrators in the first few installments?

8. all i can find at this moment is this:
Some reviewers have wished for the return of the original artist who did the "Days Gone Bye" story arc. I initially wanted that as well after comparing it to the penciling in "Miles Behind Us." But the current illustrator has hit his stride with "Safety Behind Bars," and I've come to appreciate his darker and rougher style (be advised that the series is in black and white, but it really fits the tale's grim nature). I have only two issues with this format. The first is waiting six months for the next one. Second, it would be cool if the letters pages from the comics were reprinted. I guess these are the downsides of buying the collection vs. the actual series.
