Security @ Church Of Mel on "High Alert"...guards checking IDs, new "parishioners" NOT welcome
Mel Gibson's Church -- Security on 'High Alert'

7/17/2010 12:45 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Mel Gibson's church has been on total lockdown ever since the whole alleged abuse scandal broke -- and according to a source inside Mel's haven, security's been cranked up more than ever before.

A member of Mel's congregation tells TMZ, security at the chapel is on "high alert" -- checking IDs and "making sure there aren't extra people in approved cars." According to the source, guards have been stationed outside every weekend ... as well as at Mel's house around the clock.

We're told new, would-be parishioners are persona non grata, for security reasons.

Our source adds Oksana stopped attending the church in February -- approximately a month after the alleged tooth/veneer-breaking argument with Mel.

2. Someone needs to go on Joy's show and ask us to pray for Stephen Baldwin.
Let's face it, when you've gotten to the point where Stephen Baldwin is going on TV and asking people to pray for you, you've pretty much hit rock bottom.

4. As a fellow Italian Catholic, I can only high-five Joy.
I'll share a few things with you...briefly...that I've posted on DU many, many times before.

First, I'm a Christian, and that's because it's the right decision for me and my life. There is an aspect of Christianity called "The Great Commission" in which we are supposed to "go out into the nations" and sign up more Christians. On the big scorecard in the sky, I get an F-minus on that, because I cannot and will not tell other people how to live their lives.

By the same token, I was driving home today. I saw an "Estate Sale" sign. I know a man who owns a used records store who loves estate sales. I called him on my cell phone and gave him the address. He asked how things are going. I said "not good." He said "I hear you...we're struggling too." I said "Tell you what, Gary...I will pray for you if you pray for me. Deal?" He said "Deal." I said "God Bless You, my friend," and hung up.

Because I know from prior dealings with him that he's a Christian, and I do consider him a friend. That's not "preaching." That's two friends who are Christians offering each other support and encouragement in tough times, which...for me...is what being a Christian is all about.

Second...any time a Sarah Palin or Stephen Baldwin or any other waste of protoplasm steps into the spotlight and starts banging the Christian drum, people such as myself...who do their best to walk the walk while talking the talk...make every effort to distance ourselves from them.

There is no "US" in Christianity. Church is organized religion. It is a social function, it is a place for people who need to be told what to believe to gather.

All a Christian needs is a clear head and a Bible. I've got both. It's my life, my business, and I have NEVER tried to ram it down ANYONE'S throat. By the same token, I am not open to feedback from anyone on how I choose to live my life.

So Stevie can BITE me.

:patriot:

5. your last sentence made me smile.
i was born and raised catholic, but left the church in my early 20s.

i have no problem with anyone practicing their religion of choice as long as they don't try to convert me. you and i would get along fine.

my granddaughter was born to a jewish mother who became a catholic and had her baptized when she was 6. she became a born again christian in her early 20s. my 2 great granddaughters are christian.

one of my facebook friends is a bishop. we met back in the early 80s before he went into the seminary. we were out of touch for many years, but another friend found him on facebook. he's married and has 3 daughters. i sometimes seek his advice on things that relate to christianity. sometimes i don't like his answers, but other times i do.
