Another celebrity drug arrest: Rapper T.I. arrested on possession of marijuana

Last weekend, the uber-wealthy do-nothing hotel heiress Paris Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas for possessing cocaine.

And today, the rapper T.I., who served prison time for much of 2009 on weapons charges, was arrested last night in California with his wife for allegedly possessing marijuana. T.I. (real name Clifford Joseph Harris) and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle both posted $10,000 bail and are being represented by Steve Sadow (T.I.'s defense for T.I.'s gun case and now lead defense in the Anna Nicole Smith drug case) and Christopher Smith.

Given Hilton's and T.I.'s popularity and large wealth, they'll probably walk away free while average Americans (disproportionately black, too) will serve unnecessarily long sentences (mandatory minimum sentences anyone?) and never be able to find a decent paying job ever again now that they're convicted felons.

In California, the ballot initiative Proposition 19 seeks to legalise and tax marijuana.

T.I.'s latest single "Got Your Back" featuring Keri Hilson has reached #38 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
