She has 2 DUIs. I don't believe in sending drug offenders to jail either. If someone wants to drink and/or do drugs, more power to them. If they are going to get behind the wheel while doing so they should be prosecuted and jail time is entirely appropriate for repeat offenders and those who can't get their shit together.

I have no more sympathy for Lohan than any other drunk driver. She shit her own bed.

She doesn't belong in jail. Unfortunately, that's the system she's put herself in the position to judge and convict her. I can't say enough about how strongly I feel these non-violent offenders don't belong in jail. Luck for her, she will still have a livelihood to return to when she gets out. Not the case for the majority of folks the system so blithely disadvantages in any effort at rehabilitation and re-introduction to the work which is meant to sustain them.

The film company insurance companies won't want to cover for her.

She's has a lot of advantages this whole time in the system, she could have stayed in rehab longer to actually get clean. She could have done a lot to prevent this coming to pass.

In Ms. Lohan's case, there's no need to assume that she'll have trouble supporting herself, but in many cases (quite a few I know of personally) the incarceration results in a lost job, defaults on mortgages, and disconnect from threads of rehabilitation and treatment (into a detention environment which is wrongly assumed to be substance-free).

13. She has LOUSY "staffers"

On day ONE.... THREE YEARS ago, she should had copped to the DUI, paid a fine , entered rehab & surrendered her DL. She would have gotten a lenient sentence, and probably would not have even had the extreme probation she now has.

Had she gotten a personal driver, sold all vehicles & then never driven again, she would be long ago off the radar. She kept defying the court and the repeated defiance has led her to where she is now..

Actually it's NOT against the law to be a drunk or addict, but she's brought this whole mess onto herself by continuing to flaunt her disrespect of the court.

It's obvious by now that she is not a responsible person, and her decade of being a "grown up" little girl has not served her well.

About 15,000 in the US alone each year. Lohan is no better or worse than your average drunk driver, but as a celebrity she sure as hell should pay at least as much penance as is average for repeat offenders.

That should count for something. So should all of the rest of her compliance with the court's sentence. They're so far removed from the original offense as to make the court's expectations more of an aggravating nuisance than some necessary or effective rehabilitative or punitive exercise.
