"Come of age" at 33. The oldest Hobbit that ever lived (aside from Bilbo) was Bullroarer Took (Bilbo's grandfather) and he only lived to be 130. Bilbo disappeared from the shire on his 111th birthday and Left the Grey Havens for the undying lands W/ Frodo 23 years later 134 YO. It is generally understood that The One Ring greatly extended his life.

I said all that to say that a 50 YO Hobbit would look middle aged

13. Jackson wants the look of The Hobbit to mirror the LOTR.

I have a very strong feeling once Freeman is in full costume he'll be totally believable as Bilbo, whose look was already established in the LO TR prologue scene.

What did you think about the choice of Elijah Wood as Frodo?

Doesn't look like Frodo to me. Frodo was supposed to be 33 at the beginning of the Fellowship Of The Ring, and fifty when he left the Shire. I actually think Martin Freeman would make a good Frodo.

I'm not sure who I'd get to play Bilbo

On Edit Just to give you an idea of where I'm coming at this from I likely would have never read The Hobbit had I not been required to do so for my 9th grade English lit class. I wasn't interested, I had no desire but I had to read the book so I opened it up and couldn't put it down.

It became one of my favorite books, the teacher was so amazed that I read the book (she couldn't get me to do any other course work in the class) that she gave me that copy and passed me for the class. I had about fifteen years of reading the books and building up my own images of Bilbo and Frodo and Gandalf before the Movies came out and for the most part the movie just doesn't fit for me.

Bilbo is supposed ot be older, Hobbits are fat and they are closer to the culture of Northern England or Wales than London (If you take my meaning as Sam would say)

but I appreciate Jackson's LOTR for what it is, simply the best fantasy adventure film ever made.

12. He's been great in everything I've see him in,

from Sherlock, to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and The Office. I think he was a brilliant choice for Bilbo.
With the same team that brought Middle Earth and all it's inhabitants to life before, I'm sure they'll do an excellent job on The Hobbit.
