Did anyone see Letterman and Steve Martin last night?

I thought it was mastery of subtle humor with references to giving a check/money on tv, comment by Martin "So you still have a show" and Dave's dead pan response "I think I do as far as I know". The video where Martin mocks the elections by sowing him campaigning and kicking someone on the ground and making ignorant and uninformed statements.
Appeared a great deal of this went totally over the audience's heads but it was almost an insight to how it might have been during all the political witch hunts of the entertainment industry and "black listing" of years ago (not that many actually). It was an amazing few minutes and one of the biggest political statements on tv.
Anyone else pick up on things they were doing?

Probably did go over a lot of peoples heads. Both Letterman and Martin are very intelligent.
