TMZ has obtained an LAPD document called "Receipt for Property Taken Into Custody," dated July 15, 2010. Judge Scott Gordon ordered Mel to surrender his weapons, after Oksana filed for a domestic violence restraining order. The order to surrender is standard operating procedure when domestic violence is alleged.

Here's what Mel surrendered:

-- A blue steel, semi-automatic 9 millimeter Glock handgun

-- A blue steel, semi-automatic 9 millimeter Beretta handgun

-- A blue steel, semi-automatic 12 gauge Benelli shotgun

-- A blue steel, lever action Winchester rifle

-- A magazine for the Glock

-- A magazine for the Beretta

-- A speed loader for the Glock -- which allows someone to load the gun quicker

Oksana claims Mel waived a gun and threatened her life during their January 6 blowout. Mel denied doing any such thing.

6. I'd probably be considered "anti-gun" by many here on DU,

but ownership 2 pistols and 1 shotgun doesn't strike me as signifying a "gun nut". But that they should be placed in custody, strikes me as being necessary in a domestic abuse situation.

8. You are correct...

If you are in possession of a firearm, it means never losing your temper and ESPECIALLY never using it to threaten or intimidate someone by direct action.

I know several people who carry and they are all conflict adverse. I don't know anyone who would choose to confront someone unless they are directly threatened. Cell phones are for confrontation, not handguns.

7. A speed loader....

...allows you to load the magazine without cutting your fingers on sharp metal. They aren't really quicker, unless you practice loading as much as you practice shooting.

If he were a gun nut, he'd have a dozen loaded magazines for each weapon and a few thousand rounds of ammunition.

If you can carry everything you own, you're not a gun nut.

If you need a truck and a forklift to turn in your guns, if so ordered, you might be a gun nut.

12. 2 handguns, a rifle, and a shotgun...

Do not really constitute a "gun nut" to me. But I'm all for him having to surrender them pending the outcome of the restraining order.
