Brandy sent packing, Bristol survives to finale on 'Dancing with the Stars'
Source: Washington Post

Judging from the final moments of Tuesday night's elimination episode, things could get tense next week when the winner is named for this edition of ABC's dance competition series, "Dancing with the Stars."

Some studio audience members booed in the final minutes of Tuesday's results show when host Tom Bergeron announced that pop singer Brandy was out and Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol had made it through to the final round of competition next week.

<snip>

Tuesday morning, Web site Jezebel linked to comments on conservative Web site HillBuzz, in which people discussed having figured out a way to game ABC's email-voting feature, due to a technical glitch on the site.

"Here's a hint: They don't have to be VALID email addresses to register them with ABC.com, there is apparently no validation process," said one commenter. "They just have to be formatted like a valid email address, and you must use a valid zip code and a birthdate that makes you old enough to vote. No, it doesn't have to be a valid email address - I had one of my anonymous ones XXX@yahoo.com that I used, and then just did the sign-up process all over again with XXX1@yahoo.com and it worked."

Well now we seem to have an interesting drama unfolding before us. I don't watch DWTS but the news stories are increasingly entertaining.

5. I don't have anything against Bristol
Well, except for her promotion of abstinence after having a kid...

I watched DWTS last week and she just wasn't up to par. It appears that DWTS has been either freeped, teabagged or both.

6. I didn't until today.
I figured she had a hard enough time being who she is and I'll allow a lot for someone her age. But today there were two stories I ran across (I'm ashamed to admit I looked at them both but I did in spite of really having a brain, really). One was her rant about Brandy's dancing partner/trainer being mean to her (Bristol) and theother was a homophobic rant at some kid on Facebook (note to public figures; nothing is private). She came across as spoiled and snotty, maybe still forgiveable in a kid but not to be rewarded lest she become a spoiled and snotty adult, like her mother.

That said, the world will turn.

8. I think the Facebook rant you're talking about was her sister Willow
I'm not familiar with the other one.

This probably sounds like I'm attacking her, but why is she even on DWTS? I don't watch the show that often but her "celebrity" consists solely of being Sarah Palin's daughter.

Bristol was holding her own in the snotty, insulting category though. She was more into calling someone fat and accusing them of being jealous of her family.

12. I totally agree. Although I'm rooting for Jennifer, I really thought
deep inside that Brandy was good enough to just take first place. She danced beautifully - far more superior than that cutie Kyle or stonefaced Palin. Palin's partner hit it on the nail head - she has no personality at all.

15. I don't know about East Coast but here in the west it seemed Bristol was ignored at the end.
Everyone was huddled around Brandy expreseeing shock and appreciation and I heard not a single word addressed at Bristol. Not to mention quite a few boos and looks of disbelief from the audience.

I think the Palins are wearing out their welcome fast.

20. I was in Freeperland the other day and found an article urging the FRs to Freep DWTS.
"It will blow the liberal's minds! You don't even have to watch the how here are the numbers and the links"

I voted double Brandy double Kyle. So when Tom Berhinger said on the show "We had a record number of voters this week." I said to my Darling. "Bristol is staying. One of the blacks are going."

And in the opening segment I saw it in Brandy's face. She knew. She knew in the interview segment with that awful Brooke Burke and was quite diplomatic when asked if she would survive last night.

Now I have voted for Bristol in the past because she was good. As good as some of the other dancers. But over the last weeks she just has not cut the rug. GAAWD last night it was like Mark was dancing with a mannequin.

BTW my Darling and I love DWTS. It is something that we both do together. I put off meetings just to stay home with my Honey to yell at the judges and vote and dance. Someone was critical of this to me and I thought to myself "Dude.. two of your wives left you.... in the daytime.... maybe you should have found something like this to do with them and you would still be married. Or not."

In conclusion Brandy was FREEPED. Those heartless bastards.

22. All the conservative sites are posting where to vote for Bristol
Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 05:00 AM by girl_interrupted
One guy was bragging how he voted 131 times for Bristol in one night! Very unfair, not to mention dishonest.

I love the show too...or use to. Watching other contestants being voted off, while Bristol remained really got on my nerves. I didn't watch tonite, because I knew she wouldn't be voted off. And out of the 4 remaining, it was sickening that she is allowed to remain. She can't dance.

But something really struck me, on Monday there was an article on Huffington Post about Bristol saying Maks didn't "like her" because he felt she didn't deserve to be there. And boy was he right! Anyway..Tuesday...Poof! Maks and Brandy are gone! Coincidence? I don't think I could have bared seeing Brandy's face tonite. She was such a good dancer and such a hard worker.

I really loved Rick and Cheryl. I think Rick, besides being the hottest thing going (my husband doesnt watch the show...so he was my eye candy!) really had the potential to be a good dancer.

Well here's hoping either Kyle or Jennifer wins. Sad that DWTS turned into such a sham.

24. There is a possibility that ABC is gaming the results for ratings.
Look at the uproar from retaining Bristol Palin for the finals. ABC kept Kate Gosselin as long as possible for the sake of ratings. And November IS sweeps month. I'm not convinced entirely it's voting tabulation that eliminated Brandy. She WAS good.

25. Naw. The shows system is weighted so that votes
are more valuable than judges scores-I like ballroom dancing but EVERY YEAR one untalented but popular schmuck makes it far. USUALLY the more talented person wins..but not always...See season one when the much less talented Kelly Monaco won.
Its why even though I love ballroom dancing I don't watch anymore..because the talented folk usually don't get nearly as far as they should
Pretty much every year this happens. Its only getting more attention on DU because this year the untalented schmuck is a Palin.

And like her mother, she thinks she's qualified to win.

28. I wonder about Bristol's clothing.
Being new at dancing, wearing the long skirts all the time would be a hindrance. She can't really show exactly how her body is moving, and they continually have her wearing black now. Who decides the costumes?

I like her being on the show, but I was quite shocked when she was not eliminated last night.

Remember she had never danced before coming on the show and I think she does have an ability and she has greatly improved since coming onto the show.

Keeping her on the show this long, though, could have more of a negative impact on her than a positive one because of all the flack she is going to get. Imagine how awful she felt when everyone was shocked and disappointed she didn't get kicked off. The looks on the other contestants' faces, the gasp from the audience, the comments from the judges pretty much saying it was a terrible mistake.

I don't think it's all fun for her right now. But after all she's already been through with the media hopefully she's developed a thick skin and can keep trying her best and take it to the end no matter what the outcome.

Her mom's a quitter. I believe she is not. Don't blame her for not QUITTING when, for whatever reason, she has been given yet another chance.

To hang someone on the cross for simply being young and having a child out of wedlock seems kind of silly in this day and age. What percentage of people do we all know who got married BEFORE they got pregnant? ???

35. She's a phony like her mother. She is trying to portray herself as a shy girl who's coming out of
her shell.

This is the same girl who posed with guns, drank and got high, had a baby in high school and posed on several magazine covers. She's not shy and she's not innocent.

Just in the last day she talked about a fellow dancer, called Hollywood phony and said she is real, talked about a fellow dancer, "he doesn't like me", talked "shit" on Facebook, and said that the haters are out to bring her down.

She's an adult. I don't like her and I think she dances horribly. All she does is the two-step.

She's Sarah part deux (or doh).

29. Bristol will get refudiated next week
The final three shoulda been Brandy, Kyle and Jennifer. As much as I want Kyle to win--the black guy beating the Tea Bagger sends a great message--I think it would have been a razor thin fight in the end between Jennifer and Brandy.

If this were Dancing With People On The Periphery Of Fame--say with Bristol competing against Kate Gosselin--then she probably would have done fine. However, there is just no comparison between Bristol and Brandy. Bristol is totally outclassed. She shoulda been gone weeks ago. Week 1 woulda been fine with me.

The final three is determined entirely by the judges so the Tea Baggers won't get to vote.

I think the judges are, for the most part, extremely fair and unbiased. They do temper their criticism relative to where you are. If you start off shit hot, then they push you hard with criticism meant to make you try harder and dance better. If you are teetering, and it's looking the end for you, then they are much softer and encouraging with their words.

I predict Bristol loses Round 1 next week, and Jennifer wins the final.

If this is what the Tea Baggers focus on, then maybe there's hope for the future.

so I checked out Bristol's and Brandy's performances on YouTube. I'm no dance pro, but I do have a background in theater, so I think I can safely say Kee-rist in character shoes, Bristol's partner looked like he was hauling around a bag of wet cement in a black dress. Brandy should've stayed--she was remarkable. The fix is indeed in.

...so of course that means Bristol will win if the freepers/teabaggers can manage their means of cheating.
