Trainspotting 2 ...... Bad idea?
The original Trainspotting is one of my favorite movies ever. I'm worried that a sequel will be a disaster akin to Blues Brothers 2000. ......

from TIME:

Let's get all the train-related puns out of the way: The sequel to Trainspotting is expected to depart providing a platform for the cast can be found. Make sure you buy a ticket in advance.

Oscar-winning British director Danny Boyle has said that he hopes to reunite the cast of his 1996 breakout movie but is waiting for them to age (note to Hollywood execs: that is one hell of a creative way to get out of greenlighting a project).

The likes of Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald all saw their stock rise from a highly creative piece of work based on Irvine Welsh's novel, which was in turns hilarious and harrowing. Boyle feels that, "It will happen, I think. I mean, we'll approach them all again about it, but it will depend on what place they're all at. We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to re-approach, to do again, when they have aged clearly into a mid-life kind of crisis, basically. They're not quite there yet, I don't think." ............(more)

1. So, decades later, Mark Renton would get BACK on heroin ?
Edited on Wed Dec-29-10 11:30 PM by Ken Burch
And this time he'd shag his old underage girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter?

:puke:

Yeah...sounds like a GREAT idea...

I think people would mainly watch to see if Begbie was still beating the shit out of people.

(it might work, though, if they made it into "A Trainspotting Christmas" or something like that...where they'd get Father Christmas hooked on the stuff.)

4. Bad Idea. Get a NEW idea for Christ's sakes.
I heard recently that they are remaking "Footloose" a movie that is in my top three of all time movies that I HATE.
And I really like Kevin Bacon too.
But I HATE that movie and I hate the soundtrack and if it's on TV I watch 30 seconds just to remind me of how much I HATE THAT MOVIE.

I heard that there was plans to do a "TOP GUN II" except that the "Iceman" was now 300lbs and a nut job.
So much for the beach volleyball scene redux.

5. Isn't the sequel just going to be
an adaptation of Welsh's novel, Porno? I really don't see the harm in that, especially in the hands of a capable director like Boyle.

6. My big question is "Why?"
The first stands on it's own as a very good movie. Why even try to do a sequel? This is so far from the type of movie that even asks for one. Might as well do a Forrest Gump sequel.

8. So fruggin' tired of remakes, reruns, and revivals
When are they start going to make movie mashups?

I think that, with 10,000 "What's Up Tiger Lily"'s, we'd get at least a couple of genuinely genius movies.

And a whole boatload of fun.

And the massive ridicule and disrespect the 'classic' movies mostly deserve.

9. Choose Life.
Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

Love Trainspotting, but a sequel would be an absolute failure. Somethings are better just the way they are.
