Charlie Sheen doesn't have to travel far to get better, because TMZ has learned he's doing rehab at home.

Sources connected with the actor tell us ... CBS, Warner Bros. and Charlie put their heads together and found an expert in addiction they think can help Charlie conquer his demons.

The expert and other professionals are coming to Charlie's gated community in L.A., in no small part for privacy reasons. Many rehab facilities can be tricky when it comes to patients and others spilling secrets.

1. It can work but I surely wouldn't bet the farm

Charlie Sheen is clearly a very addicted individual and likely needs a very structured enviroment to have a Pope's prayer of making it through. Anyone as rich and powerful as Sheen is going to have a hard time hitting an artificial bottom via intervention. I really fear for Mr. Sheen's health if he hits a real bottom.

4. There is also a story today saying the LAPD isn't investigating drug charges...

...because the responders to the 911 call didn't find drugs, and that was because Charlie's porn star pals "cleaned up" before making the call.

So yeah, I'm guessing Sheen is like Larry Hagman on "I Dream Of Jeannie"...if he just says the word "drugs," drugs probably appear immediately, and seemingly out of nowhere.
