Jennifer Aniston selling her home that "feels like a hug" and "vibrates with love" for $42 million

Jennifer Aniston is ready to "simplify" her life – and is getting started by quietly putting her Beverly Hills home on sale to the tune of $42 million.

But window shoppers beware: The home will not be listed officially and only an elite group of realtors will have access to the property, real estate sources tell PEOPLE. The sources confirmed the selling price.

The Just Go with It star bought the home she calls "Ohana" – a reference to the Hawaiian idea of extended family – for $13.5 million in 2006. She and her team tore it apart and spent more than two years renovating it, and she moved in just before her 40th birthday in 2009.

Built on a hillside in 1970 with sweeping views of Los Angeles, Aniston told Architectural Digest the single-level home feels "like a hug" and "vibrates with the love that created it."

1. Yeah. She was making piles of money on Friends.
You can't afford a $41 million home (or its upkeep) with just a normal film career.

5. A major remodeling or building one's dream home often closely
precedes a divorce. People think magnificent housing will be a cure all for other things missing from their lives. Walking into a house with no other people but servants ended up not feeling like a hug, and love requires more than one person.

6. Without knowing Aniston personally or having a clue about what she's like in "real life"...
...I'm at a loss for why she hasn't been able to find a steady, stable relationship. One possible reason is bad choices, starting with John Mayer.

But she has expressed a desire for marriage, kids...and she keeps picking guys who don;t want that, and if they do, they don't want it with her.

So it's possible she diverted those needs into building a multi-million dollar "womb" to retreat to and then found out her needs didn't go away, that she was simply a multi-millionaire with a multi-million dollar home who wanted marriage and kids and had neither.

It's sad to me...there are women (and men) who'll never have a fraction of her material wealth but have found a way to "make it all work."

And no, marriage and kids is never a "prescription for happiness." Sometimes we also look at what other people have and define that as "normal" and tell ourselves that in order to fit into polite society, we must want it too, even though we know we don't.

That's why I respect the recent comments from George Clooney and his longtime girlfriend, who both are happy and both don;t want kids or marriage. If that's true...and it seems to be...why would they consider either option? To make "the world at large" happy?

Life's too short. We need to pursue our own happiness while being a joy to others, but the only way we can do that is to be honest with ourselves first. Maybe Aniston's "downsizing" is part of that, and if it is, she is to be commended, because that takes a degree of strength that most people don;t have. It would be too easy to sell the $42 million home and build a new $21 million home a little further down the hill.

7. Her picker is broken that's for sure.
Personally and professionally. I hope she does find some sort of happiness.
