Best "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" line ever? I've gotta go with this one...
Season One: "Puppet Show"

Principle Snyder (shortly after his predecessor had an unfortunate encounter with a pack of teenage were-hyenas)

"And THAT'S the kind of woolly-headed liberal thinking that leads to getting EATEN!"

That is just so perfect on so many levels. :)

Your pick for best Buffy line?

1. Too many to choose just one, but here's one that made me laugh.
Buffy (in Faith's body): Oh, when I had psychic power I heard my mother think that you were like a stevedore during sex. Do you want me to continue?
Giles: Actually I beg you to stop.
Buffy (in Faith's body): What’s a stevedore?

2. Boy oh boy
You just started a very difficult thread! ;-) That show was so chock-full of good lines- even in some of the later not-quite-as-strong seasons. I would probably have to go back and rewatch the entire series

I do like the Snyder line that you quoted, particularly given what happens to him at the end of S3!

Maybe the line from "Innocence" where the Judge asks what kind of weapon Buffy is using- just before he gets blown (literally) to pieces by her Bazooka.

Pretty much any exchange between Buffy and Angelus in Becoming parts 1 & 2 were good. Oh yeah, and Xander convincing Giles that it's really him and not an illusion.

Xander:"Why would you be imagining me?
Giles: "Good point."

or something to that effect

Or what about Xander's line about not wanting to be a "butt monkey" anymore (Buffy vs. Dracula)?

It will all probably come back to me after I re-watch some episodes and I'll have to revisit this thread.

3. i just bought the 1st 3 seasons dirt-cheap. "having a blast" doesn't even come close...
First 3 seasons, DVD box-sets, $20 total. Can we say "SCORE"?

I've already heard at least two "best lines ever" in Season 2... ;)

4. Back before the DVDs had ever been released,
back when you could only buy six legitimate episodes on VHS for each season,

I went on eBay and spent $90 to buy someone's homemade copies of homemade VHS recordings. That's how much I loved the show.

Yeah, it was illegal, but I had already bought all the legitimate VHS tapes, and I bought all the DVD collections as soon as they came out (even the boxed set), so it's not like I took any money from the creators.

Did anybody here read Season 8?

7. Unfortunately, no, it isn't.
And Joss agrees with my analysis here. (No actual spoilers.)

After spending years working within budgetary constraints, Joss was excited to use the comic book medium, where extravagant events don't drain the special effects budget. You can have Godzilla-sized monsters! Huge armies! Space flight! And so on.

And the newfound freedom was so exhilarating to Joss and the other writers that they forgot to focus on the more human elements. Season 8 suffered.

But Joss has acknowledged this, and he plans to make Season 9 a more intimate, more human story. I'll read it, but Season 8 disappointed me enough that I'm going to go into Season 9 with lowered expectations.

8. OK, but I've seen Joss Whedon fail before. His failures are STILL better than...
JJ Abram's hits. Firefly and DollHouse were magnificent failures, in particular.

10. Dollhouse season two was one of the best series ever.
I don't think I have ever seen a series that did so much as season 2 dollhouse.

6. Yeah, that's definitely what I would call a "score"
I had to pay quite a lot of money for the individual season sets (except for the first, which was shorter) when they were first being released.
