Kobe's New Video -- 'Words Can Be Hurtful'

4/20/2011 9:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

In the wake of his anti-gay slur -- Kobe Bryant, along with several members of the L.A. Lakers -- have banded together to preach a message of tolerance in a new public service announcement.

http://www.tmz.com/2011/04/20/kobe-bryant-los-angeles-lakers-public-service-announcement-anti-gay-slur-apology-glaad/

In the video, Kobe says, "There are all kinds of different people in the world. That's what makes the world special."

Kobe and his teammates continue, "So whether someone is different than you in race, ethnicity, political beliefs, religion ... or sexual orientation ... Words could be hurtful."

Bryant continues, "Replace them with understanding, compassion and acceptance. Let's make this a better world for all of us."

Thanks to our friends at Good Day L.A. for the clip.

1. Do you have proof that he got away with rape?
Or was the fact that he got charged enough proof for you?

2. It's not typical for adult athletes to lash out the way he did.
I've heard the f word from student athletes before. I'm not sure I've seen it from pro-athletes. It was kind of shocking.

3. I heard a joke on the radio...
"A homophobe, a black guy, and a rapist walk into a bar.

And the bartender says, 'Hi, Kobe!'"

I liked it.

Anyhow, his remarks are deplorable, but I do applaud him, somewhat, for making this effort to right his wrong. I think he could do more, but i also hate Kobe, so he'll never do enough in my eyes. (I know the large Armenian population in LA is unhappy about him being a spokesperson for Turkish Airlines, too, but he hasn't ever tried to address that little mess AFAIK.)

4. I don't applaud him at all...not in the least.
He's the worst of the worst, a fucking pig on every level, and fuck him.

If I've left anything out I'll add it later.

PS: Fuck Kobe Bryant.

7. The world is a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly...
...and Kobe "Worthless Motherfucker" Bryant" is reading public relations crap that was written by some weasel who wants to make sure that the "team" doesn't suffer for this asshole's indiscretions. All they give a rat's ass about is selling tickets to fucking BASKETBALL GAMES.

PS: FUCK Kobe Bryant.

6. Kobe apologized

and I believe it's genuine. Public relations and remorse are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

The inner circle of male sports is typically homophobic, and high emotions sometimes rouse demons in all of us we'd like to expunge forever.

8. Kobe is a bigoted and worthless piece of crap
I blame him, his team, his employers, his fans and the culture of sports that make such monsters into heroes.

9. I never liked the guy but it seems he's the true teflon god.
This too shall pass and he'll continue to rake in the dough and keep his endorsements. Look at Shaq another asshole with women strewn all over the states and nobody gives one feck.

They're all misogynist assholes.
