http://www.tmz.com/2011/05/20/randy-savage-car-accident-macho-man-dead-dies-died-killed-wwe-wrestler-florida/

Macho Man Randy Savage -- one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time -- died today in a car accident in Tampa, Florida ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ spoke with Randy's brother, Lanny Poffo, who tells us the wrestling legend suffered a heart attack while he was behind the wheel around 9:25 AM ... and lost control of his vehicle.

Earlier this month, Savage celebrated his 1-year anniversary with his new wife Lynn.

Savage was 58.

4. I don't get the wrestling hate
I see people all over the boards here saying it's for Freeper rednecks, and I don't understand it. I mean I know it's relatively "low-brow" entertainment, but it's still fun to watch on occasion. In any event, R.I.P. Macho Man. Thanks for the years of entertainment. "Ohhhhh yeahhhhhh!"

5. Because it's completely and utterly staged and phony.
Yet people watch it as though it is an actual sporting event.

10. Some people think that soap operas are real and that
people are really like the roles they portray in movies. Doesn't make the mediums any less viable.

11. I'm Quite Certain That "Grey's Anatomy" And "CSI" Are Staged And Phony
Yet people tune in and watch those every week too. And I'll bet you can find just as many people out there who believe those shows are real as believe wrestling is real. Believe it or not, the vast majority of people who watch and enjoy wrestling KNOW it's not real. I'm virtually certain that "Thor" and the "X-Men" aren't real, but people line up at the box offices every summer to see them. So why do they do it if they know it's not real? I'll bet you can answer that one for yourself.

13. Who watches it as a "real sporting event"?
No one I know, that's for sure. It's entertainment. The WWF/WWE themselves came out and admitted this over 20 years ago. That's like yelling "How can you watch that? It's so phony!" at people who watch "Glee" or "Pirates Of The Caribbean". It's all a show. That's what any of them are.

15. As others have posted, nobody watches it as a real sporting event.
I think it's kinda dumb and repetitive now, but I used to like it when I was 12, and neither me nor any of my friends had any doubt that it was totally staged. And since then, the WWE ownership has even publicly acknowledged this.

It's basically just acting. Hammy, scenery-chewing(sometimes literally) acting to be sure, but no one criticizes theater or opera (speaking of scenery-chewing) enthusiasts for watching staged entertainment.

18. I think the struggle that thinking people have with it is that
MANY of its fans believe it's actual sport and not scripted entertainment.

19. False
Many years ago, maybe. But I'd wager money that if you polled the crowd at any wrestling event, you wouldn't find more than maybe 1% who claim it to be "real".

7. Notice, in particular, how you refer to it as 'entertainment.'
Rather than as 'sport.'

9. I'm not quite sure what you're getting at
Are you saying that since I know it's entertainment then it's acceptable for me to watch? Because I know it's not a true sport. I mean, they do work hard and do get injured, but I'm not going to stretch and call it a sport, certainly not.

14. No more than you would call ballet a sport.
Although they, too, work hard and get injured. You watch to appreciate the artistry, not the competition.

12. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Macho Man Randy Savage
perform in the wrestling ring, during the 80s and 90s, he was brash, loud, and was a very entertaining character.

RIP, Randy.
