'CLEARWATER, Fla. — The professional wrestler known as Randy (Macho Man) Savage has died in a car crash in Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol says in a crash report that the 58-year-old former wrestler — whose legal name is Randy Mario Poffo — was driving a Jeep Wrangler when he lost control in Pinellas County around 9:25 a.m. The Jeep veered over the raised concrete median divider, crossed over the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a tree.

Police say he may have suffered a “medical event” before the accident, but the report did not elaborate, and it said officials would need to perform an autopsy to know for sure.

The report confirms that the driver was the pro wrestler known as Randy Savage. A woman in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

TMZ.com reported that Savage had a heart attack while driving and his wife, Lynn, was the woman in the car with him.'

1. My god, "Leaping" Lanny Poffo was the Macho Man's brother?!?
What the fuck? Terrible accident, too many wrestlers don't even live this long, though. I know a lot of people discredit professional wrestling but for some people it's a job just like profesional football. With less money, more injuries, and usually a short career.

I will snap into a Slim Jim in Randy's memory.

3. That was my question, too. I remember the Poet Laureate of the WWF!
Sorry to hear of Macho Man's passing. He provided much entertainment in my youth.

I wonder if they'll play Pomp and Circumstance at the funeral...

7. Yeah, for lots of wrestlers, it's a family business
Probably goes back to pro-wrestling carnie roots.

Yep, a quick trip over to wikipedia shows that his dad was a pro wrestler too.
