Original E-Coli video, by Throbbing Gristle. (graphic and disturbing)
Throbbing Gristle was an experimental music group in the 1970's. They invented and named the industrial music genre. "Industrial music for industrial people."

The video is a fantastic accompaniment to the classic song. Turn off the lights and turn up the volume.

Warning: Graphic and Disturbing

Enjoy.

1. I remember throbbing gristle
I was a bit young for them but still enjoyed the music. In it's place I used to go to Skinny Puppy shows, always a really good time live.

2. Throbbing Gristle is amazing.
They got me started in industrial music back in the late seventies.

Thanks for that golden link.

3. I was late to the TG game.
I was so into punk and thrash that these guys just wouldn't stay on my radar. It was the early 90's when my musical tastes expanded to the point where I could handle this kind of stuff. To me, industrial was Ministry, Frontline Assembly and Front 242, not TG. Silly me.

Made the same mistake with the bands Smegma, Sun City Girls and a host of others I now love but couldn't wrap my head around at the time.

4. Thrash doesn't seem to exist as a genre anymore.
I remember when Nirvana's first album came out, I thought it was slow thrash. I kept it with my DRI and Suicidal Tendencies cassette tapes.

I think Naked City is the last thrash band, but they do a fusion of thrash and jazz, which is awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uCQyb896n4&feature=related

7. The only new thrash band I listen to is Lazarus A.D.
I know there's some others out there, but I've kind of moved on. I still listen to older thrash (I'll never give up my Wargasm and Voivod), but I don't really search it out anymore. I only heard these guys because I grabbed it for a friend in the hospital, and the tightness of the playing was a real nice throwback to the good old days of the genre. This would have given me an orgasm in the mid 80's!

Always liked Naked City and John Zorn. :)

6. Smegma are personal friends of mine.
I've known them since 1978. I've even performed with them.

Ask me anything.

8. Are they as cool as they seemed in the movie People Who Do Noise?
And that's awesome that you've performed with them!

Trailer for the movie....

And the full movie itself....

The "noise" genre isn't my favorite musically, but spirit-wise and creativity-wise it's the freshest and most free scene going right now. It's a lot like the punk scene of the late 70's and early 80's before the punk dogma set in. This movie really conveys that openness and freedom. One of the best music documentaries I've ever seen, and Smegma is in it. :)

10. Are you one of the artists in it?
If I'm pushing for info you'd rather not divulge on DU no problem. I just thoroughly enjoyed the movie and always like to learn more about these things.
