First look at Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins,

on the cover of Empire magazine. He makes a great hobbit!

I knew this guy was a hobbit the first time I saw him on BBC.

11. Might one of those dwarves in the background be Aidan Turner?
I'm having a bit of withdrawal from Being Human!

12. I know the dwarf at the head of the table is Thorin Oakenshield

played by Richard Armitage but I'm not sure if you can see Turner's Kili in that shot.

Here's the full cast list: http://www.middleearthnews.net/p/hobbit-cast.html

4. I prefer him as Watson on the new "Sherlock"
but am certain he'll be better as Bilbo than he was as Arthur Dent.

9. he's too skinny
Bilbo was a chubby hobbit. Of course, all hobbits are supposed to be chubby, but Bilbo was chubbier than most.

10. I agree. He should have put on more weight,

but I understand why they didn't go that direction with his look. They want him to resemble Ian Holme's Bilbo, as he's in both installments of the Hobbit.
