Not sure I'm in the right forum, but I watched 'Hot Coffee' last night on HBO

And I highly recommend it. It didn't change the way I feel about tort reform, or the corporate media, and I'm probably preaching to the choir here on DU, but it was really informative and very interesting. If I were more tech savvy, I'd attach the trailer. Sorry.

1. Yes, There Has ALWAYS Been An Extreme Amount Of Distortion About

this whole issue. Off the top of my head I can't think of any story that got as bad as this one. From the get-go it was total crap about what ACTUALLY happened.

I'm no techie either and I didn't see the trailer, but the show on HBO should be watched by all. I'm SURE it will be shown again. I have DISH and programs are always run again and again. Which is a GOOD thing as far as I'm concerned. Many times I miss Bill Maher and know I'll be able to see it during the week.

Thanks for the post, I was going to do it myself but got hung up with some other posts here today. Having not posted for quite some time here I seem to have been drawn back into this place again. I have posted a couple of times here and there, but couldn't take it anymore and stopped.

Kind of in a holding pattern because I'm bouncing around with Wimbledon and checking winners and losers.

7. I watched it this weekend

Very eye-opening. Poor woman. Her burns were unbelievable. The family from Missouri whose son had brain damage because of the doctor's negligence. The CAP damages didn't even pay for his medical care that they already had - let alone what was needed in the future for him. Gotta love Bush for that one. He gave us Rove and look at the damage it caused. Just so big business can take your rights away from you.

But in the new HBO documentary "Hot Coffee", filmmaker Susan Saladoff shows how the media got the story all wrong, and often demonizes civil litigation, using phrases like “frivolous lawsuit” and “jackpot justice.” She says the distortion of civil cases is part of a big PR push to discourage people from suing big business.
