Live Action Movie Review - Monsters

Genre: I don't know. I feel like I am supposed to say, "monster movie," but that would be misleading.

Story: A man and woman consider their place in this world, and how they perceive themselves and each other, as they illegally travel from Mexico to the US. Oh, and there are colossal, octopus-like monsters running around, but their presence is mostly symbolic.

Acting: Good.

Humor: No intentional humor.

Violence: Some gun and monster violence; mostly in the beginning of the movie.

Sex: No sex scenes.

Overall: Really good movie. I highly suggest it to anyone looking for a smart movie, that also happens to have some cool monsters in it. If your just looking for an awesome monster flick, check The Thing or Godzilla vs Hedorah instead.

I would post a trailer, but they are all misleading.

1. Loved this movie.

I was warned ahead of time that it wasn't a monster mash, which helped. If people go into this expecting Cloverfield or Godzilla type action they will be disappointed. The monsters are really just a backdrop for the story. I thought it was excellent.

And if you didn't know this already, the director Gareth Edwards has been chosen to direct the new Godzilla movie from Legendary Pictures (now pushed to 2013, dammit!).
