The Monkees cut short 45th anniversary tour
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/the-monkees-cut-short-45th-anniversary-tour-2335873.html

The Monkees have reportedly scrapped their reunion tour due to fall outs between the group.

The 'Daydream Believer' hitmakers - consisting of original members Micky Dolenz, 66, Peter Tork, 69, and Davy Jones, 65 - have axed a number of US dates to mark their 45th anniversary, with organisers at one concert venue telling the Daily Mirror newspaper their show was called off because of "internal group issues and conflicts".

Micky wrote on his Facebook page: "Dear Fans and Friends, The Monkee Tour has, indeed, been cancelled but for reasons that I cannot discuss at this time. I can say that the reasons pertain to business and are internal matters.

"Needless to say, I am disappointed but the situation was unavoidable and I want to apologise to all the fans out there who will not be able to experience what was a wonderful show indeed. Regretfully, Micky (sic)."

2. I think so
He was touring with his other band, Suede Blue Shoes recently.

The boys have not been getting along. I believe they said they'd never work together again after the tour they did in '03 or so. I was shocked that they even made this attempt.

3. Yes, he has

He completed all of his treatment last year and had been touring with his own blues band before the reunion tour started. (It's Shoe Suede Blues, btw.)

I know Peter has commented about past tours, saying the other two had been verbally abusive when drinking. (Peter has been sober for more than 20 years.)

Obviously don't know if that's what happened here, but there have been conflicts between them in the past and I'm amazed this tour (or just part of it) even happened at all.

6. Yeah! Come and watch them sing and play!
They're the young generation (Micky Dolenz, 66, Peter Tork, 69, and Davy Jones, 65) and they've got something to say!

5. It's not the same without Mike "Wool Hat" Nesmith.
It's only "The Monkees" if Mike "Wool Hat" Nesmith is participating.

24. Yeah, I doubt it too, especially if any of the revenue kicks back to him.
They don't do any of his songs, so he doesn't collect royalties, but AT MINIMUM, every time these guys go on the road and renew interest in the Monkees brand, their stock goes up, and so does the stock of the Nesmith solo catalog.

12. Thanks!
I always considered him to be the most talented one in the group. I'll pass this link on to my wife. She's the "Monkees Fan" of the family, although Harry Potter is giving them a run for their money!

:hi:

8. Sad that they don't get along. I would think at their age they would be able to make it work.
They have the chance to make money playing songs that they were famous for 40 yrs ago.

You'd think that they'd be grateful people are willing to pay money to see them.

I can't believe I used that line which was a joke one of my best friends made probably 45 years ago. He wouldn't believe that I remembered it after all these years.

22. It surprised and disappointed me too, link:
Southfork Ranch will play host to "America's Tea Party" on July 4, 2009.

Organized by the group behind the Dallas Tea Parties, the July 4th event will be a much larger affair, featuring multiple speakers, entertainment, vendor booths, and food.  Among the guests scheduled to appear are Fox News commentator and author Michelle Malkin, former pilot and true American hero Scott O'Grady (the inspiration for the film "Behind Enemy Lines"), and Monkees lead singer Mickey Dolenz.

23. My guess is all signs point to Davy.
I use to rig concerts (put up scaffolding for lights) in the 90s. The Monkees were one of them. It was toward the end of their Justus tour. And there was more bickering amongst themselves than I can handle. It's usually Davy vs. the rest. The backing band that was used for the concerts was Davy's, because that was one of his demands. He's very controlling, and arrogant. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy. Very cool to us and the fans. But when it becomes business, Davy is extremely difficult to work with.

25. I wonder what the problem is?
I listened to the 2nd audio commentary on the recent Criterion DVD of "Head" that included all 4 Monkees (recorded separately) and was shocked that they seemed to have nothing but nice things to say about each other. It was nothing like the commentaries they did for the Rhino TV series DVD set, where you could clearly hear there was still some bad blood between the four.
