Going Viral: Rock N Roll fans rejoice! Canadian rocker sounds, literally, just like Freddie Mercury!
Roger Taylor (Queen's drummer) said about 34 year old Marc Martel (of Christian rock band Downhere):
Today I got a call and they said, ‘Wow, check this guy out!’ (for your Youtube Contest) And there’s this guy on there singing just like Freddie, just fantastic pitch. And it’s a sight that really gave me a lift. I thought, ‘Wow, this really might work!’” I'd say! This guy's God given gift is undeniable. To think of Queen touring with him is exciting, I hope they will.

And, 4 years ago with a band doing an utterly amazing performance of Bohemian Rhapsody (how could he go undiscovered this long?)

1. Talk about an odd place to find a credible substitute for the genius of Mister Mercury!
A Christian rock band!

Wonder if he'll wear some of Freddie's more outlandish style of costumes?

4. I bet he would! The Bohemian Rhapsody was done with the church's band, so they're
open-minded enough to be doing that, I'm sure if they offered, he'd wear Freddy styled outfits, since he's singing his songs in church. It'd be awesome to see Brian May and the band tour one more time.

And, there's some great Christian rock bands out there, amongst the many lame sounding ones! ha I love Switchfoot, Third Day, Jars of Clay and Newsboys.

And if this Marc dude doesn't win that youtube contest, I'd sure like to know who is better than him?! He's destined for some stardom. His videos have been viewed many millions of times in 2 days. Too bad he didn't put ads on his videos, because that 20/20 report said there's hundreds of youtube people making over 100,000 a year. That's amazing.

2. Wow, he was great!
I've been a huge Queen fan for years, he sounds as close to Freddie as anyone I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing.

5. Me, too! I loved Freddie and I never got to see them. I hope Brian & Roger somehow do a tour in
major cities with this guy! I have so many Queen faves, but I'd have to say I Want It All and Who Wants To Live Forever are my faves. As a kid I loved Radio GaGa!

3. He is very good
I always wondered why the band didnt try a tour with Bowie as a front man years back, but that guy could be just what they need.

8. pretty f'in good,
but one of the commenters on the video had the same thought as me. Almost perfect vocal rendition but he's no FM in terms of "stage presence". Still awesome, though.

10. yeah, he's great! good point about the presence, but I think he could learn it and with some
confidence boosting from the band could learn to get into it. Hardly anyone was as gifted on stage as FM was, but this guy could make it fun. I'd love for them to pick him up for a tour since he's so good.

13. As a side note ...
While I was typing the previous comment I had the Martel Bohemian Rhapsody video playing in the background ....
after I finished the comment and I was clicking around I thought 'I need to go ahead and close that Freddie vid' --- and it was Marc! LOL
