1. Probably very few of these will stand the test of time
Maybe only one or two will be regarded as classics 25 years from now (and one of those will be the Journey song, which is already more than 25 years old!)

2. What a sad, depressing list. Some of the worst music ever recorded.
Wow. With all the brilliant, talented artists out there, a list of top-40 corporate whores tops the tops. Most of this shit was "recorded" with loops on a laptop in someone's bedroom. Whatever happened to actual bands that played real instruments together?

.

6. Maybe you should actually educate yourself before doing "old man yells at cloud."
There's a great deal of good music on that list from solid performers.

24. No, there is not a "great deal of good music" on that list.
There are a couple of decent tunes, and I even have two of them in my collection. And despite your knee-jerk old-man comment, neither of them are Journey. I probably own more new music than you do, but that doesn't mean I have to dl corporate crap. There are so many great Indi bands out there today, why do we have to have the same handful of bullshit schlockmeisters crammed into our ears? You apparently only like the dozen or so "popular" songs your car radio tells you are out there (sorry, if you generalize, so can I). I, otoh, love nothing more than seeking out fresh talent with unique, original sounds.

17. Name for me the generation whose music was not called
the worst and not music played by freaks without talent by some segments of their elder folk. Name one. "That's not singing, that's screaming"- half of the nation re: Beatles, Janis, Elvis, Mozart, Sex Pistols.

10. Age has nothing to do with it.
I'm 64 years of age and simply adore Lady GaGa. She is awesome!

7. Wow. All that music sucks.
iTunes is a good source for music but now I understand why every time you go there it looks like a teenager runs it. Two years from now only one of those songs will be played.

Disposable music. But still sounds the same.

among my 435-song playlist, although I would download Kings of Leon if I had some money.

All the songs on my iPod are things I downloaded from CDs I already owned.

14. I recognize most, enjoy a few, but won't blanket-condemn the others
Think back to high school, and how there was that one rocker kid or maybe group of rocker kids, who thought they were the expert on what good music was to the point of being pissed off if you didn't like, "Stairway to Heaven," etc. Our school's kid, during a discussion in a class over what makes a classic, suggested, "Nights in White Satin," by the Moody Blues (which kind of surprised me as he was a leather-wearing bad-ass - or at least trying to be). And an example of one that isn't? That stupid, "Stand in the place where you work song," by REM. I guess you could argue one way or another about it it, but I know which one I've heard more in my life.
