Big Brother stickers and magnets at Cafe Press
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 05:57 PM by InternalDialogue
These are the first of what I hope will be many designs I'll be working to get out over the next few months. I'll gladly accept your orders at Cafe Press; I'll warmly accept any compliments; I'll grudgingly listen to criticism.

1. Great graphic
Now how about a big eyeball with a shrub on top?

4. Hee-hee
Made me guffaw. That's probably not a bad idea.

5. Gracias.
Got the link in there now -- and I would have wondered in eight months why I hadn't sold anything.

3. The only thing about that is that it only covers one year
When we've been living in 1984 since 2000. I like the design. How about putting a set of eyes in the two zeros as a way to show Big Brother.

Or how about a design of Bush wearing an Uncle Sam outfit and pointing, saying "I am watching you." I'm looking forward to seeing all your final products.

7. Get out of my head!
Can I steal your "I'm Watching You" idea?

Yeah, using 2006 is just convenient for now. Come 2007, I either update or evolve to a newer, more generic idea. Had I come up with the concept earlier, the date certainly would have been different. The thought bubbled up during a discussion with a friend right around the new year.

And the eyes -- my original didn't have anything related to that, but my partner suggested just what you did. I didn't like the idea of getting too cartoony, so I put some subtle glows inside the 00's -- a happy accident was that they end up looking a bit like darkened computer screens, which is also appropriate.

6. Excellent Idea
In my opinion perhaps something a bit more eerie with a touch of imagery. Perhaps fitting the NSA symbol in there or an eye that's always watching with a mini-surveillance camera. I don't know how detailed one can get with stickers but a few almost hidden items such as is found on the dollar bill might be effective.

Let me know when you complete your project I would be interested in looking at it and possibly buying a few stickers. Very important stuff. In the spirit of ideas here is a link to an ongoing thread titled: WAR ON TERROR IS ORWELL'S NEVER ENDING WAR

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x467535

And a few images:

“If you’re not doing anything wrong, what do you have to worry about”, the oft recited cant of the surveillers.

“There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.”
- George Orwell

8. Clara, great link.
I'll have to bookmark that page with the Orwell essay.

I hope that I'll get up some more designs soon -- I've never been moved to do much activism, but the concept of total surveillance has gotten under my skin. Thanks for the ideas and the images -- that blinking NSA eye is freaky. I won't sleep tonight.

10. Gotten under your skin you say?

This is a real photo of someone getting an RFID chip insert.
