3. What is your price range?
Why I ask is, sometimes it makes more sense to spring for a New (Decent) horn
then go with an (often) unadjusted used one. Keep in mind that a new horn will sell for a lot more if your daughter decides to quit playing.

One other thing..As a former Studio Musician (CBS) a cheap Sax can discourage a young player because the action, tuning and other problems are more prevalent Plus....brand name Saxes don't require you having to have it "Checked out" by a repairman for a long time.

If you're looking for a decent Sax try a Jupiter Tenor at Woodwind and brasswind.

The Jupiter's have improved their quality tenfold in the last few years.

(I play the Sterling Silver Alto)

4. What wonderful advice. You are a very kind person.
This isn't my thread, but I thought someone ought to point that out.

6. Every jazz musician I've ever known is rather nice
I thought your advice was very practical as well as prompt. A lot of times people try to cut corners, not knowing that penny wise can be pound foolish, and other times people get irritated because others don't have the same baseline of knowledge as experts in a given field. You laid it out precisely, in straight-up, easy to fathom language.

If I ever buy such an instrument (unlikely, but ya never know--one of the family rugrats might get the spirit) I'll remember your guidance!
