9. RL -- Some people hide sig lines. . .

I do -- used to be they took up too much bandwidth and slowed the boards, even with a cable connection. Now, I find them distracting, and the board looks better without them. So you may want to post your link in the main body of your posts, to ensure everyone sees it.

same place you can hide your Profile, hide the Lounge, select only your state from the State forums, etc.

17. how are your sales at alibris?

i have many books and often use ebay as a sales venue, but i have looked at alibris and wondered if it would be more effective listing there. what has been your experience?

18. Amazing difference

Half.com kept crashing, and their customer service sucked. I pulled my inventory off there and uploaded it to Alibris.

After I switched to Alibris sales improved immediately. I then joined their partnership program with Amazon and Barnes and sales jumped thru the roof!

I like their interface, and their sellers hub. I can do all my work on one web page.

I highly recommend it...

is there additional cost to join the amazon/B&N program?

i looked over your listings (wow! you have a lot of books listed!!!)- do you sell any antiquarian/collectible books?

also, am i understanding correctly that alibris sets the shipping costs? many of my books weigh well over 1#, plus if the are particularly valuable, i don't necessarily ship via media mail.

20. There is a monthly fee from Amazon

but not B&N if I remember correctly.

If the book sells on Alibris or B&N, they take a commission. If it sells on Amazon, they take a commission, but they do not double charge you.

I think you can set your default shipping type in their setup screen, but I'm not sure.

Their help is pretty good, and they have a forum too. Once you join the Amazon program, they have a support phone line, which has been very responsive. They actually have a person answer the phone.

I have not sold any of the antiquarian books. When I find them, I put them on the side. I have a lot from the 1890's thru the 20's put off to the side for now.

Just added LOTS of mysteries and thrillers, plus a bunch of unusual English, Creative Writing and Grammar type books.

but i don't even have 100 books up yet, much less thousands. :thumbsup: to you! do you mind if i ask you some more questions about alibris, either via PM or in this thread? i can only imagine that you are quite busy with all the books you list (see, that's a question - do you use the seller hub online form or upload multiple listings at one time?) so if you don't have time to for "the noobs" i understand! ;-)

i've perused and bookmarked your Xenith Booksellers page ( http://www.alibris.com/bookstore/xenithbooksellers ) - da-amn you have a lot of books! (another question - how do you store and file them all?)

29. I have my basement filled with book shelves.

I've got them alphabatized by author. But I am out of room. I have a bunch more shelves in my garage and no where to put them. I have the 8000+ on the shelves, but I have the rest 20,000+ still in boxes in the garage and basement. I am looking at a 800 sq ft storefront that is for lease this weekend, and am looking at a 3700 sq ft building for sale also later this week.

I use the Alibris Hub, and enter them one at a time. I find it meditative and it gives me a chance to check prices, condition, etc.
