If I stay on the NYT bestseller list for 1 more wk, my hubby sez I can adopt a kitty
Don't you think every writer needs a kitten/cat?

My books, WAKE and FADE, are the first two in a trilogy (GONE, Wake bk 3, comes out spring 2010. Published by Simon & Schuster). They are about a 17 year-old girl who gets sucked into people's dreams. There's a bit of romance, too.

WAKE spent a week on the NYT bestseller list last year. FADE just came out a few weeks ago and has been on the list, steadily climbing from #10, to #8, to #7.

Two weeks ago my hubby and I made a deal -- if I can make 5 appearances on the list, I can adopt the kitty I've been wanting since we moved to AZ 4 years ago.

I only need one more week!!

So. If you like to read or know someone who does, please check out my books if you get a chance. My audience ranges from teens to adults, both female and male. S&S says 14+ due to language. My daughter's 12 and she was fine reading it.

Here's the link to both on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Lisa-McMann/e/B001JS4S28 . If you can buy locally at your neighborhood indie bookstore, even better.

Thank you!!

Lisa

1. I think if you can write a book, you deserve a kitty. Tell your hubby
to chill. And congrats!

3. congratulations on your success...
but maybe you should get yourself a cat. Why can't your husband deal with adopting a pet like a normal person.

;-)

Congratulations, and good luck!

5. Congratulations! That is wonderful! And yes, every serious writer needs a cat or two
to sit on your piles of papers, to purr on your stomach as you're trying to balance the laptop, and to sleep on your desk.

I just adopted a new grey and white kitten a few weeks ago, and I can't believe the fun and serendipity she has brought into the household.

Good luck!

6. I think you deserve several cats/kitties. Congrats on your accomplishment.
With cats, the more (to a point) the merrier!!!

8. Seems a little silly to me and that this is just blatant self
promoting. Just my opinion.

Congrats on your success nevertheless.

My sincerest apologies. I wasn't even aware that we had a marketplace. Again, mea culpa.

17. No probs!
I forget these things go on the latest page, so peeps aren't necessarily looking at how it's categorized -- I've made the same mistake before myself.

It's all good. :)

9. Get a kitty no matter what happens. You deserve it and so
does the kitty. As for your husband, a little unreasonable, doncha think?

10. I have the perfect kitty for you. His name is Ecuador
and is a year old. He plays fetch with us. He is beautiful and has green eyes. My daughter raised him because his mom was run over by a car. She has too many cats.

12. Hubby confusion -- he's not the bad guy.
My bad, folks. My hubby is not a bad guy here, but I think I inadvertently made it sound that way.

We have a small home, two kids and a dog. I've wanted a cat, but we decided together that our house was full enough. Recently I began thinking about giving it a try again, and he, knowing I like a challenge and an incentive, came up with the plan. I agreed to it. And am trying to make it fun.

So sorry about the confusion there -- I feel badly that I painted him that way. He's the best guy in the world.

Many thanks to all for checking out the books!

xoxo

Lisa

22. UPDATE! (Thanks for the nudge, Ilsa!)
It's been a whirlwind -- FADE is still on the bestseller list for the the 11th week! YAY! Thanks to all for your awesome support.

And I got the kitty! She was a stray that was found hanging around a gas station, about 10 months old at best guess. She was scheduled to be euthanized but a rescue organization saved her. We named her Captain after a character in the books, because she's tough and she thinks she's in charge of all of us, including the 80 pound dog. :) She is a muted torti, soft orange, gray, and white. She was all skin and bones when we got her, but she's plumping up nicely now.

Thanks again to all!

xoxo
Lisa
