Here's a ranking of cost of owning automobiles in various classes.

The top-rated models range from the $22,600 MINI Cooper, rated best for a subcompact car, to Toyota's $64,755 Land Cruiser, rated the best of the large premium SUVs. Toyota's 4Runner, Camry, Prius, Tacoma and Venza each win their own segments, as does BMW's M3, X6, 7-Series and 5-Series Sedan and Wagon.

2. I buy American

I had one import, it was the worst car I ever owned. Americans make American cars (mostly), and I am quite pleased with the product I get. I was a steelworker in the seventies, so I know what imports have done to our country. That is why I try to buy American.
I understand others buying imports to save money, but money is not a big concern for me. I have enough to base my purchase on principal, which is keeping Americans employed.
