Recycled Spoon rests I make from Wine & Alcohol bottles
Edited on Tue May-19-09 12:39 PM by lies and propaganda
This is my first ever post in the Marketplace, but I figured the Spoonrests would be great with so many
like minded people here, interested in recycling and re-purposing products.

I am a kiln fused glass artist and I live in Wine Country, so there is never a day when I dont have at least a few bottles recycling in the kiln, along with my normal projects.

Each bottles goes into the kiln and lays over a specialty mold, so that when temperatures reach 1500 degrees, the bottle will take the gorgeous shape of the mold.
Making it a perfect dish for more than just spoons! Candles, spoons, dipping for olive oil & sauces, and my favorite.. banana splits!

Cobalt Blue Skyy Vodka, Captain Morgan.. and my treasure trove of wine bottles.. I recycle them all!

A great way to save the world and have a cute & clean kitchen at the same time!

You can see all the varieties of them here.. I hope you dig them as much as I do!

(if you have questions about the process, fire away! That was a glass joke.. haha!)

I really enjoy making them, even though it never looks like my bottle pile gets any smaller!

5. Try selling them to gift shops. Usually they have a little kitchen section and they are used
to sourcing from various vendors. From what I can tell anyhoo..I've never managed a gift store myself.

8. I currently have them in a few wineries up here..
Which is really really cool.. But there is a lot of mass produced Chinese flattened glass that I have to compete with.. Mine is twice as nice, and probably actually annealed (cooled extremely slowly for strength) but theres is half the price, of course..

11. Every town has a touristy crafty gift shop that sells local artisans' stuff. Try them. I'm sure
you've thought of that already though. I really like yours. I've never seen them before.

10. Thank you!
I dont have anything at all in the direction of the States.. but I am always willing to wholesale nationwide, just a matter of finding the right people..

They sell really well on my site though and I notice that i am shipping them all over.. and in places that would typically be considered 'green.' Love it!
