And I have a friend in Sterling, CO that specialize in custom-made grips for guns.

He's one hell of an artist, and I thought you might want to take a gander.

His website sucks, but I'm trying to drum up business for him.

1. You know guns aren't the only thing that take grips...
He could do grips for cameras for example.

4. Naw. I used to own guns and I've already told him that I respect 2nd Amendment
that's why I have never said a word about guns.

The funny thing, I haven't seen Clay in about 17 years, but I follow him on Facebook and I offered to help him with his website. He works for Sterling Correctional, but this is his hobby - and he's one hell of an artist - I've known him since high school.

He knows my feelings about guns and respects it.

I used to own a .357 and a .22 Sig (both have been disposed of - haven't owned a single gun since 1998)

6. Just curious
What happened in 1998 that made you hate guns?

7. Nothing happened.

I bought both guns, used, and fired them at the range. That was the intent of my understanding of guns and how powerful they feel. One day, my Sig had a broken chamber spring (it popped out) so I had it fixed. My mistake was that I was still living at my parent's, and my father got a call from the gun shop letting him know that the gun's ready (had forgotten all about it), and my dad got pissed at me, because I never told him about the gun. He paid for the repair, took the gun, and disposed of it. My father does not believe in guns, and I happen to agree with him - I understand the need to protect oneself, but living in an urban area, it's just simply stupid to have one laying around.

Now fast forward 12 years later. I'm married, living on my own, and have one 1 year old son. There is simply no way that I'm getting a gun because there's no place to properly hide it for protection. My kid gets into everything everywhere, and I'm afraid if I buy another gun, he might find it and accidentally shoot himself or others.

That, plus I'm an ex-felon. That is a story for another day, but not today.

11. I have spent a good deal of time looking at grips

the better custom grip makers have months delay. The market is strong because of the huge increase in ccw.

I believe the market is extremely, as in very, very limited for grips with skulls on them. IMO, and I think many would agree, skulls on a defensive weapon would be a bad idea. It just wouldn't endear a grand jury to you if you ever had to justifiably use the gun.

Instead exotic materials, innovative use of materials, custom options, hand checkering, and flawless workmanship will ultimately get an artist a long waiting list.

Ahrends is a prime example, always backed up with orders.
