Scanner test, and: Should I open an Etsy store?
Checking out the scanner to try to get decent detail pics of jewelry... what do you think?

And here's my question: Should I start an Etsy store? If I can... I don't know if I'll be able to, it says it requires a credit card and I don't have one at the moment. But here's some of the stuff I make, would you buy this on Etsy if you saw it?

3. Beautiful jewelry and nice pictures.
I think you should try Etsy!!

Regarding the scanner ~ try laying a piece of fabric or paper on top of the jewelry before you close the lid on the scanner ~ it'll give you a choice of colors and soften the background.

Good Luck with this!!

4. very pretty-
i've tried to do chainmaille, but the fingers don't want to coordinate with the brain!

there is really an overload of jewelry on etsy ( i make beadwoven items and *try* to sell there!) some do really well, and i've yet to figure out how they do it--
but, yeah, do it--and good luck!

(are you on paypal?)

5. Love it!
Etsy's certainly worth trying, but be sure to have reasonable expectations about it--you won't likely make a zillion dollars in the first few months.

Great pieces and pics!

7. Your jewelry is beautiful
I'm thinking of opening a store on Etsy also, just in the thinking phase though. There is also a newer site called Artfire. Here's a link comparing them

http://www.jewelrylessons.com/question/art-fire-vs-etsy

I think it is free for a few items so that might solve the credit card problem if you just want to try it out. The holidays are coming so people will be looking for gifts.

Best of luck!

8. I buy jewelry on Etsy.
Do you have a debit card? That should work as a credit card? Ours does.

All the pics are good shots of what I would want to see if I were looking to buy.
Some Etsy stores I pass on because they do not give measurements, like length of necklaces or earrings,
or exact descriptions of materials.
The best shops show several different views of the same piece, from different angles, from close ups to what it looks like on a person or a dummy.

Price and shipping costs are another factor.

Etsy is cool because a lot of stuff is at a very reasonable price OR is unique, or both.

9. I like Etsy, too

but not making enough money yet to give both them and Paypal a cut of what I sell, so that's why I've been utilizing the DU Marketplace for now. But I do agree with you that I tend to frequent those shops who give as much detailed info as possible. When you are selling over the internet, I think it's imperative to do so.

10. Looking good!
Nice stuff. Some of the pics are a little blurry. I'm not much into the chainmail stuff but I would love to learn to do a little of the wire weaving to incorporate into more of my stuff.

Wishing you success! :hi:
