Snap On and Williams Tools
Does anyone know where I can find the value of Snap-On and Williams tools that are from the 50s - 70s?

1. eBay perhaps?
I have bought quite a few Snap-On tools on eBay.

3. Thanks...
I looked but didn't find any that were the same as what I have. These belonged to my husband's father and I don't know for sure how old they are. They are in great shape and of course last forever so it's hard to tell.

11. I know they are expensive tools
Edited on Sun Aug-21-11 07:16 AM by notadmblnd
my son bought a flashlight (it's only about 6 inches) and paid 105.00. He told me that the one he really wanted was 200.00. I have to admit it is a really bright flashlight, but 105.00?

I don't know if they have any resale value though. He buys his tools from the sales rep that visits the shop he works at.

2. Sorry, I thought this was a Sarah Palin thread.
E-bay is the answer. And a much better answer than I had in mind.

4. I haven't found anything so far on Ebay.
That's where I looked first.

No, not a Palin thread. Yuk

6. Well, that's where I would have looked first.
Why do you think they have value? Maybe you should list a few and see how it goes. In my mind, old tools are just old tools unless they have some historical value or maybe they will do things that can't be done with new tools. I mean that kindly. One of my hobbies is re-creating early American longrifles and those folks used tools that you can't buy at the local hardware store but it's very much a special interest kind of thing.

7. I don't know that they do have value.
That's the point. I do know that some people collect Snap-On tools. We're just cleaning out the garage and have some things to get rid of so thought I would check and see if they have any re-sale value at all.

8. So put a few of them up on e-bay. It's a little work but in can be fun.
I mostly use e-Bay to buy stuff but I've sold some things there and it is interesting, especially if you don't really care about how much you actually get. It's kinda fun watching people bid up your stuff and sometimes you get surprised. The other option is Craigslist. It's free and it's very fast. I've put stuff up on Craigslist and had it gone for full price in hours, but, you have to have an idea what the stuff is worth. Unless it's special, probably far less than you think. That's why I almost never buy new shit unless I know for sure I'm getting a good price. These days, crap is easy to come by but money is not.

One of the good things I have found about being recently retired is that I have the time to shop for the best deal and I am amazed at what I have been able to acquire with Patience.

9. Anything Snap-On has value.
And their stuff has gone way up in price over the years. I'm surprised you didn't find anything on eBay. I used to find lots of it, but it's been a few years. I was on a Snap-On buying binge for awhile.

All kinds of Snap-On stuff.

On edit: Sorry, I guess you found the snap-on stuff, just not what you were looking for. Some of the older tools may have great value. Get an idea of what kind of starting bid to place by looking at similar newer stuff. You will likely get bids that will take the auction up to whatever they are actually worth. Lots of people love their tools, me included.

12. There's a Snap-on Tools collecting forum.
http://www.collectingsnapon.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1

It's a great place to get information on what you have and to discuss the subject.

One piece is from 1953 and one is from 1934 according to the chart on the forum.
