I guess I thought I was pounced on here because I'm a theist. My mistake.
It appears its just calling me out personally. I'm not perfect, but I don't recall many of the crimes I'm accused of...that does not mean I didn't do them, I simply don't recall them.

I will, right here and now, apologize for any offense i gave any of you or that you felt I was condescending, rude or intolerant.

Here's your chance. Get it out....but then, move on. You should really let it go and get on with your life.
There are more important things, honestly.

of. It was news to me.

since it takes two to tango, I must accept that I am at least partially at fault, if not completely at fault, even if I don't recall the various incidents. Since I don't want people to retain bad baggage, for their own well-being, I'm giving them an opportunity to cleanse themselves of it, say whatever they wish to say to me, get it out in the open, and then move on.

then, I'll move on with my life as well.

37. I think that's a mistaken viewpoint.

The vast majority of atheists that I have known that frequent the R/T forums come here simply because religious and philosophical matters interest them. Yes, at times debates get heated, but where don't they? I would submit that in approximately 90% of all the forums on DU there are heated debates regularly - and that's precisely why I like the R/T forums so much. Not that I live for getting into arguments, but because I am able to be exposed to viewpoints that differ from my own whereas if I were relegated to the A&A group, there would not be such a broad exposure.

There are a few atheists, without a doubt, who seem to live for upsetting theists. Bear in mind, however, that there are also a few theists who seem to live for upsetting atheists. It's not just a one-way street, and no one faith or lack thereof should feel entitled to use the R/T forums without having their ideas challenged on occasion.

At least, that's just my .02.

the vast majority of dustups I have at DU occur in this forum, and I usually try to stay away for that reason.
I'm not perfect, and I must admit I have some if not all the responsibility for the dustups.

I get aggravated in heated discussions and end up offending people without realizing it.

so, please continue to get things off your chest, but keep in mind I might miss something if posted after this weekend.

I just wish that you could have a debate, or be challenged, without making things so personal. Nobody here hates you (I don't). And everyone has said something stupid...its just that we need to have enough integrity to realize when we are making a bad argument, or getting insulted for its own sake.

I've been insulted various times on DU. I am still here. I usually do not call out the people that have insulted me (although I have a long memory, so if the same person accuses me of insult, well.....).

Just let it go, and get back into the game.

I've taken a very hard look at myself. I don't like everything I see. :)

I recognize that my presence here is counterproductive.

I never realized I'd caused this much discomfort. I sometimes think posting on a messageboard can separate us from the visceral and sometimes we don't notice how we affect others. We enjoy making a quick witted post or trying to win an argument, or what have you.
I'm going to have to think a lot about how I interact on the internet. Certainly, I'm not having the effect or result I'd prefer.
I'm not expecting everyone to like me, that's not the issue, I'm MORE disturbed that I have offended other people. I do not wish to harm anyone.

today, several people were very candid about what they disliked about me or how I'd hurt them a while back. It bothered me more that I didn't even recall those incidents.
