One of the more frustrating things about being a godless heathen in this society is that we're generally the ones actually fighting for religious freedom while it's religious people (not all, of course) who are doing their best to stamp it out.

"Washington state officials placed a moratorium late Friday on permitting any more holiday displays inside the Capitol this year. An atheists' sign placed near a Nativity scene sparked a controversy after commentators on Fox News drew attention to it. Afterward, Gov. Chris Gregoire's office was flooded with nearly 15,000 phone calls from people nationwide who opposed the sign. The moratorium in effect denies space to several requests, including one for a sign that says "Santa Claus will take you to Hell" and a "Festivus" pole. Festivus is a mock holiday popularized by the "Seinfeld" sitcom in the 1990s."

1. If christians would actually act more "christian"
I don't think we that don't believe would care. They are so busy trying to shove their beliefs down our throats and force us to believe like them that is the problem.

There are a lot of good people though who don't do this and are probably frustrated as we are as dems who have to support (sort of) our dems in congress and senate.

5. Honestly, this is why I think it's better
to keep displays on gov't property to totally neutral things - lights, maybe, a little greenery.

Once you allow one religious display, you must allow all. And then this silliness all starts.

There's no reason religious displays cannot be put up on the lawns of churches or other places of worship. Or private property, of course.

But you either get a mess, wherein every group can legitimately demand space, or you have continuing anger. Neither is really good.
