Does God steer the hurricans?

And I, behold, I do bring the flood of waters upon this earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven...
(Genesis 6:17)

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
(Psalms 107:29)

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, as a tempest of hail a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. (Isaiah 28:2)

Mathew, Ecclesiastes, and few other phrophets also mentioned directly or indirectly about the storms...

2. What difference does it make?

If some want to interpret scripture to mean God steers hurricanes, that's up to them. I don't believe that to be the case myself. There are people who believe aliens are abducting cows, too - if that's what floats their boat then it is fine as long as they don't impose it on someone else or use it as a social or political weapon agaisnt others.

Aliens are abducting cows, and termites and socks from the dryer too. Sorry, I'm in a silly mood. Welcome to DU.

8. I wasn't commenting on the credibility
just answering a question. I use the Urban legends section of About.com for stuff like this, but Snopes is good too. My secondary reference.

10. I don't think so
God has too much on his hands as it is to be weilding hurricanes to cause tropical destruction. Same thing with other natural disasters, earthquakes/tsunamis.

11. The LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 11:05 AM by Dcitizen
For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.(Psalm 107:25)

The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the Wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. (Nahum 1:3)

And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. (Revelation 16:1)

Maybe you're right, but God is very very big like the whole North America continent according to prophet Nahum and can steer the storm by his COMMAND, or orders the angels to send forth the destructive hurricanes.
