1. Oh cool...
I truly wish we could get to that event but it's way to far for us to travel to to mention Summer in the South and I would not mix well. :( Maybe someday there will be one up this way... or maybe oncve we're settled into our new home and community better we could organize one like that up this way in Northern NY.

"focuses on issues of religious tolerance, the enviroment, the dying process, love, philanthropy, compassion, etc....<snip> endeavor to discover 10 essential truths shared by mankind regardless of culture, gender, religion or race!"

This world certainly needs a whole lot more focusing on the common and positive issues between varying spiritual paths if we're ever going to make it better no less survive.

3. This type of conference is not unusual
What is unusual is any media coverage about it.

As for focusing on the common and positive issues between varying spiritual paths--it may hearten you to know that this is happening all over the world, via the Dances of Universal Peace. There are at least 400 Dance circles worldwide, and probably many more that haven't been listed at the official website (I know, because I lead four different circles in various parts of Arkansas and Missouri, and none are listed--I'm sure its because the website is maintained by volunteers who don't have much time to continually update it). If you'd like to find out more about the Dances and where they are done, check out

http://www.dancesofuniversalpeace.org

If you live in southwest MO or northwest AR, check out my website for local Dance activities:

4. Thank you...
from your link there are not currently any very close to us stateside although Ottawa Canada may be only a bit over an hour away (we just moved here).

I'll bookmark and check from time to time to see if any are ever closer.

Namaste

5. check out this site as well
http://www.churchofall.us/t4.html

It is the schedule for Murshida Tasnim Fernandez, co-founder for the Center for the Dances. She teaches and does workshops all over the world-perhaps one will be close to you.

2. Wish I could go
Too far and I have a fear of Texas since they appear to be overun with fundies. IF anyone goes, just remind them of Deists and all we want is freedom of religion, religious tolerance, and respect for all traditions. Even fundies :puke:

7. I'll be there July 2, God willing
to do the Dances with Tasnim and some Sufi/pagan/deist/everyotherkind at a local church. There are a lot of nice folks who live there. Maybe they are the ones that keep the state afloat and not crashing into the nether regions.
