Lodi Muslim Mosque Fires Imam Who Gave Anti-American Speeches
Lodi Muslim Mosque Fires Imam Who Gave Anti-American Speeches

The Lodi imam who admitted to making speeches in Pakistan criticizing the U.S. after September 11, 2001 has been fired.

The Lodi Muslim Mosque's board of directors voted unanimously to fire Shabbir Ahmed, saying they didn't want any more problems and that they would look locally for a new religious leader.

Shabbir, 39, is a cleric from Pakistan who was arrested June 8 on immigration charges in a sweep that also netted a father and son accused of having ties to al-Qaeda. A deportation hearing has been scheduled for October 24.

Last week Shabbir testified at his immigration hearing that he urged Pakistanis to fight Americans in the months after the September 11 attacks.

He told the judge that "it was a requirement of all imams. If you don't, people turn against you. They sort of force you to say something."

3. it was a requirement of all imams
"He told the judge that 'it was a requirement of all imams. If you don't, people turn against you. They sort of force you to say something.'"

We have enough evangelicals doing this... addressing the least common denominators of their congregation, then changing the tune when called out on it.

Having principals means never having to backpedal when you say something based upon those principals.

Guess hypocrisy is found in all creeds.

4. Indeed, Sir
It would seem this is really a confession on this fellow's part he does not have what it takes to be an immam, that he trims his sails to the prevailing wind rather than setting course by pole-star of what he claims to believe is the Living Word....

"And this be law that I'll maintain until my dying day, Sir, that whatsoever King may reign, still I'll be the Vicar of Breigh, Sir!"
