Was God a volcano?

nteresting video here. Just food for thought, nothing more...BUT, for the bible students and other religious folk I would really love to hear some rebuttal posts (anything other than "how dare you attack religion!" would be great).

I realize this guy is fairly sarcastic about it (unfortunate, since the insight is good stuff and I'd prefer keeping the discussion civilized if at all possible), but what do you guys think of his observations?

Is he way off base? If so, why? Other explanations would be cool too, anything to further the discussion.

p.s. just as an aside to some administrative types that might be moved to move this to the "religion" forum, I'll just note that there are plentiful topics on the Catholic Church and what's going on with them these days in "General Discussion", and I think it's fair enough to have a topic examining what, exactly, they are all about in terms of the bible they follow, as a part of the general discussion. Obviously it's up to you guys, but I'll just leave it out there...

In the early twentieth century, Freud used it in his interesting short "Moses and Monotheism."

I'm not sure why you expect "religious folk" to be interested, as "religious folk," in rebuttal of such a hypothesis: I see no way to establish definitively whether or not it is true; if it is true, it perhaps sheds some light on ancient syncretism, but it is still rather outside the realm of what I would consider theological questions and so has little or no theological relevance to me
