What Does The Pope Say About Transexuals Who Want To Marry?
Does he approve of a woman (who was born as a male and had gender reassignment surgery) getting married to a man (who was born male)?

What about other religions? Does the fact that someone is a transexual disqualify them from being viewed as equals under church doctrine?

3. I don't care either, but...

Just to entertain the question, I think before you ask that question, you should find out how he stands on hermaprodites that have had surgery to become one gender or another.

2. I would guess that his answer is PRAYER
Pray, my son. Pray, my daughter.

And remember... there is always time to repent and
be saved. (Let the Inquisition continue!)

I hope that more and more people start caring less about what the
Pope thinks does and says. Life is just too damn short.

4. Let's make it make it more interesting, ARW
How about a post-op woman (born a man) and a post-op man (born a woman)? As in the case of Robert Eads and Lola Cola, subjects of a heartwarming documentary, "Southern Comfort."

16. I don't mean to offend anybody, but ..........................
I just am having a hard time wrapping my mind around this couple. I guess truth IS really stranger than fiction sometimes.

And BTW, I do hope they are truly happy.

6. How about a post-op woman who is a lesbian.

Everything is so black and white to the extremist that I doubt they register anything within the gender spectrum that not is on one extreme or the other.

7. Probably not
since I would assume the first gender is what would be looked at. Also the issue of procreation comes up. I do not believe procreation is possible, so that is another road block according to Canon Law. That is what I expect would be said.

9. I've Never Understood That Fully Either. Can A Sans-Uterus Woman Marry?
Obviously she can't procreate... so what's the point, eh?

11. That's the apparent key to the Sacrament of Marriage
in Catholism. The entire point of the sacrement is to procreate and create more little Catholics. Stories have been posted here about Catholic Marriages being refused at the last second when the male was found to be impotent (it's really a don't bring it up you are just fine policy in real life).

While I disagree with that stance, that is what it is in the rulebook.

12. Transgender male
married to a guy..does this make a marriage invalid..on a state level?
Does it make it a GAY marriage?

Does it matter if the female to male partner sees himself as male and for all appearances is male, but has no breasts or uterus but lacks a penis? He is a penis less guy..does it make him a still man or not? What about a biological guy who lost his penis in an accident, both trans male and biological male eunuch look the same..and are sterile..Does it make it all of a sudden a lesbian marriage and invalid?

What is a man with no penis? a woman?
Or is he a guy or not?

What is a woman with a dick a beard who looks male? A guy? or not?

Where does the arbitrary lines of the lie called gender end and begin?

Biology has a very different answer than religion and state..Biology has gender in a continuum and fundamentalists and authoritarians cannot tolerate ambiguity because ambiguity isn't so easy to DOMINATE as easily a strict simplistic categories required to create classes and rationalize culturally insane who gets and deserves privilege and who doesn't get privilege instead must get submission games that keep the privileged in the position to exploit..

14. You make good points in your splitting hairs examples
I believe the church would go by how each person was biologically at birth (e.g. born a male then you are a male the rest of your life, born a female, you are a female the rest of your life). Any deviation quickly moves out of the narrow bounds the church laws have been written too.

I am willing to accept a broader defnintion of the rules, but given the Catholic Church's very slow inner workings, it could be centuries before this is resolved. Some individiual Catholic Church communities already and will continue to accept the broader defnition (e.g. St Joan of Arc in Mpls http://www.stjoan.com/default2.htm ) but they are isolated pockets taking heavy fire from the upper echelons of the hierarchy on this theological stance.

15. That wouldn't cover intersexed children
the ones whose sex is reassigned after birth. Very controversial! The grown adults have expressed a lot of anger at what surgeons did to them as infants.

It is not possible to rely on the teachings of any religion that rejects science and reason. This is why some Christian fundamentalists have convinced themselves that mental illnesses are caused by demons, not by some anomaly in the brain chemistry.

17. I guess the Catholic Church wouldn't let my BF get married then ..........
since he is infertile after testicular cancer treatment. And I guess they wouldn't let me marry either, because I am probably too old to conceive without major medical intervention. So we can't marry each other? And we aren't allowed to have sex outside of marriage?

But wait a minute, neither one of us has taken a vow of celibacy, so Pope Ratzy can just go suck an egg. (Plus I'm not even Catholic)

13. Interesting question - I don't know the stance myself.
Of course, I could care less what a bigoted fuck like Ratzinger thinks, but I'm curious what the official view is.
