Italian Foreign Minister Calls Atheists ''Perverse, A Threat To Society'' In Vatican Publication
Christians, Muslims and Jews urged to unite in a war against atheists

October 30, 2010

Italy's Foreign Minister Franco Frattini

ITALIAN rationalists are demanding the resignation of the country’s Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini over incendiary remarks he made in an article he wrote for the Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano.

Frattini, according to atheist Marc Alan di Martino’s blog, labelled atheists as “perverse” and a “threat to society”. Frattini called on Christians, Muslims and Jews to unite against secular “extremists” whom, he claimed, posed a grave threat to society.

This so “pissed off” di Martino that a wrote to President Giorgio Napolitano, complaining about Frattini. And he said this on his blog:
So it’s war he wants, and he’s rallying his homophobic, misogynistic friends at the Vatican against his fellow citizens in a holy alliance which is supposed to include their worst historical enemies, Jews and Muslims. I’m beginning to think we’ve entered a new phase of religious warfare on Earth: it’s no longer going to be Muslims vs Christians or skirmishes over minor doctrinal differences, but the faithful against the secular. The only thing they can agree on is that non-believers are the enemy (at least they can finally agree on something) of their unfounded truths.

- Saddam's murderous henchman he tries to save, eh? Yeah that sounds about right.

Well, since this screed is coming from such a high government official and has been published in a Vatican rag, I suppose the Pope's trying to tell us to: "Screw all that loving your brother shit......"

10. Well it certainly is a mystery for the plebes and non-clerics.

Fortunately for The Church believers by their very natures are seeking answers, and are thus exceedingly credulous.....

14. Jews might want to read some back issues of L'Osservatore romano...
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 09:06 PM by onager
When evidence of anti-Semitism in the Church is found, one of the most common defenses offered is that the anti-Semitism did not reflect Vatican policy and certainly not the attitudes of the popes, who are portrayed as defenders of the Jews from their persecutors.

That is why I did all I could in the research for this book to get as close to the popes themselves as possible.

The Vatican daily newspaper, L'Osservatore romano, and the biweekly La Civiltà cattolica, whose proofs had to be read and approved by the Secretary of State of the Vatican before publication, were filled with the most vicious sort of anti-Semitism.

That the popes approved all this seems to me beyond question, except perhaps for those limited times when popes were practically on their deathbeds, in which case the Vatican Secretary of State would have had full control.

17. This is one of several poorly crafted attempts.....
...to divert attention away from the retching stink that is the Vatican's pedophilia issues and coverups. Not to mention their banking atrocities and thievery. One would be hard-pressed to find a more sinister and morally-twisted institution anywhere on earth. And after 2000 years of bludgeoning, torturing, maiming, discriminating and outright killing anyone who opposed them -- especially if they're Muslim or Jewish, I don't believe for a second that these bastards are going to bury the hatchet and then sit down and break bread with the competition while they plan the demise of secularists. They're just trying to regain the upper hand and it ain't gonna work.

They're all FUCKING LIARS......

Obviously you and the minister are equal in your knowledge of history. It's just too bad that knowledge is based on false sources, fallacious argumentation, and bias. When are you going to drop the right-wing meme against everyone who doesn't believe like you do?
