Oklahoma's faith-baiting initiative
Just to be on the safe side, voters in Oklahoma this month overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment that prevents the Talibanization of the Sooner State. Henceforth, there will be no public stonings in Ponca City, no forced burqa wearing in Bartlesville, no sharia law in Lawton.

Even supporters of the referendum - which forbade state courts from considering sharia in their deliberations - admitted that the threat from Oklahoma's 30,000 Muslims couldn't be called "imminent."

"It's not a problem and we want to keep it that way," explains state Sen. Anthony Sykes. Sharia law, according to state Rep. Rex Duncan, is a "cancer that must be removed with a preemptive strike."

1. How do people like Duncan graduate from law school and still be stupid?

2. They're not stupid
they know this shit is unconstitutional as hell. It gets the values votes out. Also, when the courts inevitably strike it down, they can rail against activist liberal courts. It's a win/win for them.

4. How will this ever stand up to a Constitutional challenge?
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Isn't passing a law regarding a religion in DIRECT violation of that?

5. Can't be.
Everyone knows that the 1st Amendment only refers to the Christian religion on which this country was obviously founded. Establishment only applies to non-Christian religions and prohibiting free exercise only applies to Christianity.

Since the law in question neither establishes a non-Christian religion nor prohibits the the free exercise of Christianity, it's 100% Constitutional.

6. Thats right, I forgot about that part.
Part of me really wants Jesus to be real and for him to come back, just so that all the fucking hypocrites in this country can hear me laughing my ass off as he sends them all to hell.

7. They just invalidated all state and federal law.
Void for being overbroad.
The law they passed said that the judges in OK could not use "international law", which they defined as any law from another country.

ALL the laws in the U.S. come from England, France or Spain, as far as I know.

So they just overturned ALL the laws.
