U.S. conservative group demands a federal law banning Shariah law
Conservative Action Alerts is asking for donations to pay for faxes to Congress members demanding the passage of H.R. 973 which they say will ban courts from considering Shariah law. They say that conflicts between Shariah law and state law were before the courts of 23 states. Most of these cases have to do with family law and immigrants.

Introduced in March by Florida Representative Sandy Adams (R), the text of H.R. 973 reads,

To amend title 28, United States Code, to prevent the misuse of foreign law in Federal courts, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. USE OF FOREIGN LAW IN FEDERAL COURTS.

Part VI of title 28, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:

‘CHAPTER 183–USE OF FOREIGN LAW IN FEDERAL COURTS

‘Sec. 4201. Limitation on use of foreign law in Federal courts

‘In any court created by or under article III of the Constitution of the United States, no justice, judge, or other judicial official shall decide any issue in a case before that court in whole or in part on the authority of foreign law, except to the extent the Constitution or an Act of Congress requires the consideration of that foreign law.’.

I find it interesting how christians are ALL FOR the separation of church and state, as long as it is some OTHER religion.

Hypocrites.

2. The same people who want to ban "sharia" law are usually the ones who want
to institute "biblical" law. I don't see much, if any, difference........

3. There is no difference.
The basic structure and most of our laws originated somewhere else.

If those fans of Old Testament brutality actually read the Sharia code, they'd probably love it.
