Jesus became poor so that Reverend Chris Okotie could become filthy rich
Edited on Fri Aug-26-11 03:57 PM by moobu2
An increasing number of Nigeria's 70 million Christians are followers of the prosperity teachings - the belief that prosperity is a sign of spiritual blessing. Services are held in megachurches that hold thousands, with millionaire pastors preaching the word.

<snip>

It is written about Jesus, specifically, that he became poor so that the believer might become rich, because he recognised that poverty is not part of God's plan for man," he says.

The head of another church, David Oyedepo, is said to have a net worth of up to $150m.

His Living Faith Church - also known as Winners Chapel - hosts three services every Sunday in Lagos, in a 50,000-seat church, and has branches in Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Gambia, the UK and the US.

1. Oh, I think I'm getting it. Jesus came into the world to make us wealthy.
Maybe sin is defined as "not amassing huge wealth at the expense of the poor."

Must have found some new scrolls in the caves.

5. No, Jesus came into the world so that Okotie could be made wealthy.
Jesus, like a good Calvinist, loves the rich, not the poor, you see; that's what Prosperity religion is all about.

2. So if he's fleecing the poor who are believers....
and they never become rich because he's fleecing them, then he's saying the poor people he's fleecing aren't really believers because they're not rich, so that means that...he...they....:wtf:

3. The prosperity gospel
Is a pervasion mostly in the hands of charlatans who don't have the foggiest idea about the nature of Christan faith.

4. Disgusting
Against both Christian and secular ethics - especially as Nigeria is a country with a great deal of severe poverty.

Really sickening.
