Florida Pastor proposed "The Christian National Registry of Atheists"
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 05:41 PM by moobu2
Pastor Mike posted this on facebook about a year ago but its only recently been discovered and is spreading around the net.

Now, many (especially the atheists), may ask "Why do this, what's the purpose?" Duhhh, Mr. Atheist for the same purpose many States put the names and photos of convicted sex offenders and other ex-felons on the I-Net - to INFORM the public! I mean, in the City of Miramar, Florida, where I live, the population is approx. 109,000. My family and I would sure like to know how many of those 109,000 are ADMITTED atheists! Perhaps we may actually know some. In which case we could begin to witness to them and warn them of the dangers of atheism. Or perhaps they are radical atheists, whose hearts are as hard as Pharaoh's, in that case, if they are business owners, we would encourage all our Christian friends, as well as the various churches and their congregations NOT to patronize them as we would only be "feeding" Satan.

Frankly, I don't see why anyone would oppose this idea - including the atheists themselves (unless of course, they're actually ashamed of their atheist religion, and would prefer to stay in the 'closet.').

I edited the link to a better version of the story. It has the same quotes from the pastor though..

2. The real question is by what Constitutional authority would any
city or state have the right to persecute atheists? What laws are they breaking?

3. I like the Exodus reference.
The Exodus narrative is a great place to start when looking at the immorality of the Abrahamic god.

Remember, God hardened Pharaoh's heart so that the answer would be "no" and ol' smites-a-lot would have an excuse to unleash more suffering on the Egyptian people.

4. He's a guy who calls himself a "pastor," who started a webpage he calls a "church"
Kinda like if he called himself "mayor" and started a webpage he called his "town"

or if he called himself "astronaut" and started a webpage he called his "space station"

some people do stuff like that here on the innertubes

5. False analogy.
There are set qualifications to be a mayor (you have to be voted in) and to be an astronaut (until such time as you can pay your way into space). There are no set qualifications to be a pastor. I can get ordained on a different webpage in a matter of minutes.

7. Oh, sure... I love being compared to sex offenders
"(unless of course, they're actually ashamed of their atheist religion, and would prefer to stay in the 'closet.'"

Moron... a-theist... without theism = there's no "religion" here.

I wonder if he believes that Jews were ashamed of their religion when they were made to register and didn't want to?

"In which case we could begin to witness to them and warn them of the dangers of atheism"- thank you, no.

I would never be stupid enough to put my name on a list that allows people like Fred Phelps to stand outside my house and scream at me (and my children and my grand-babies).

Thank you... no

8. More of that "Christian Love"
Why not just suggest atheists all wear specific symbols on their clothes, or be made to live in centralized locations, so it would be easier to "witness" to them?

11. "Protecting Marriage"
Right...by trying to prevent people from getting married, and by trying to forcibly divorce people already married. Those RRRWers are really cracked. If they really cared about "protecting marriage" they'd go after the divorce lawyers (many of whom are within their own ranks).
