Sour note struck as NC Christian capella group expels singer for his ‘gay views’
A GAY senior at the University North Carolina has been slung out of a group he has been part of since his freshman year.

The reason, according to Psalm 100 chief Blake Templeton was that Will Thomason was removed for his opinions about homosexuality, not for his sexual orientation — his views had clashed with the Bible.

Psalm 100, according to this report, is a student organisation that is recognised by the university and must follow the school’s non-discrimination policy. The university will be investigating whether Psalm 100 violated the policy, according to Winston Crisp, vice chancellor for student affairs.

The policy says university-sanctioned groups may limit membership to those who share the group’s beliefs but cannot prohibit members for individual characteristics, including sexual orientation.

1. Again you use an atheist site as source
Why don't you link a Christian source that tells how this student persecuted the Christians in the group?

:sarcasm:

11. Sorry.
I did see the sarcasm icon, but it's meaning seemed ambiguous. Now I know. :)

4. Typical cherry-picking hypocrisy
Those verses against Teh Gays are set in stone. Disobey those and pay the price. The ones forbidding divorce, lying, gold and pearl jewelry, mixed fiber clothing, shellfish, pork, etc, on the other hand....

5. Other serious transgressions include...
Edited on Sun Sep-04-11 07:14 PM by Meshuga
...Eating leavened food during Passover, eating non-kosher fat, ingesting the blood of an animal killed in hunting, having sexual intercourse during menstruation, eating on Yom Kippur...

I wonder what their views are on these very serious biblical transgressions. However, I think it is extremely likely that this bunch take these transgressions very lightly. In other words, they all should get kicked out based on their own standards.

6. The ten commandments are rarely followed by Christians.
The Bible is very clear about which ten are the ten, and it isn't the first ten of 613 in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5...it's the ten in Exodus 34 which are labeled "the ten commandments."

The third commandment is keeping Passover, the sixth is keeping Shavuot and Sukkot, and the tenth is the prohibition on mixing meat and dairy. A few are about sacrifices too, but God doesn't care about that stuff anymore, presumably.

10. I could see the sacrifices not being done...
Since sacrifices are commandments for the priestly class in the holy temple. That was part of their rites back in the day.

In other words, these guys are free from these rights. But the transgression I listed originally are inexcusable and they are in the class of sins that warrant "divine punishment."

Even worse than the offeses cited, these guys desecrate the sabbath week after week which is an offense the bible feels that is worthy of capital punishment. All these guys have to do is write something or turn on a light switch on the sabbath and they have acted on a huge biblical transgression while the guy who got kicked out never acted on any transgression -- he only had an opinion.

8. Nice little loophole
the choir created for themselves. They knew they wouldn’t be allowed to give a choir member the boot based on his or her sexual orientation, so they came up with a way to boot the person that would be allowed. Very disingenuous.

It’s as logical as saying, “I hate red hair. I won’t be your friend if you have red hair, but it won’t be because you have red hair. It will be because you have said you think having red hair is okay.”
